1. Charlotte Flair is out of Survivor Series
One of the most interesting stories going into this week is Charlotte Flair. Charlotte was initially offered the spot as team captain for the SmackDown brand, but she turned the spot down. She told general manager Paige that she didn’t think that she was the right woman for the job. Charlotte later did say that she would think about it; therefore, she did not flat-out deny this offer, leading to speculation regarding her future on the Survivor Series team.
The following week on SmackDown, Paige announced the entire SmackDown side of the match. Charlotte Flair was confirmed along with Asuka, Naomi, Carmella, and Sonya Deville. However, when it was her turn to come out to join the others in the ring, her entrance was interrupted. Mandy Rose came out instead of Charlotte, questioning Paige’s choices.
It could be an interesting story if Charlotte backs out of this match. Charlotte has been one of the biggest superstars in the past few years. She has quickly ascended to the top of the card, and she has tied the record of Trish Stratus for most women’s championship reigns. The question is where does Charlotte go from here.
Charlotte has begun to lack the confidence that makes her a “Flair.” If Charlotte backs out of this match, that will do a lot of damage to her character. However, this could be exactly what Charlotte needs in her career right now. The Queen’s fall from grace could be what helps her regain that title in the end. This is certainly Becky Lynch’s time to shine as champion.
Charlotte will look to take a backseat to the champ for now. Booking Charlotte from here could help create a great story for Flair heading into WrestleMania. Charlotte fighting back to the top to face the champion who beat her Becky Lynch would be worthy of the first women’s WrestleMania Main Event.
