4. Nia Jax’s New Heel Character Needs More Substance

It was only a few months ago that Nia Jax was the beacon of hope for bullying victims with a successful feud with Alexa Bliss.  Lately, however, The Irresistible Force has taken a newer approach thanks to a real-life incident that changed the fortunes of Survivor Series and beyond.

Jax accidentally punched Becky Lynch in the face a couple of weeks ago and legitimately broke her face.  This caused a big change in the match at Survivor Series that was supposed to feature Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey with it instead changing to Charlotte Flair taking Lynch’s place.  Jax has her sights set on recapturing the Raw Women’s Championship at TLC when she challenges Rousey.

Last night saw Jax and her new on-screen ally Tamina in the ring addressing the upcoming match with Rousey.  The Irresistible Force has proven she can be a solid heel in the past, but her recent run just feels like nothing but cheap heat and too much focus being put on a real-life incident.  Jax said she will take care of Rousey at TLC and win back the Raw Women’s Championship before Rousey had heard enough.

The Baddest Woman On The Planet had a few words for Jax before chaos ensued.  Jax and Tamina tried double-teaming Rousey before Natalya came out to help her, only to be intercepted by The Riott Squad.  Nattie was taken down quickly and after Rousey chased off The Riott Squad, she checked on Nattie.  In terms of just the Jax vs. Rousey picture, though, this segment was not as good as it could have been.

Most of that can be attributed to The Irresistible Force’s focus on her new heelish face breaker gimmick that desperately needs more substance than just one punch.
