Sonya Deville

WWE fans are no longer sleeping on Sonya Deville’s talent, and after being tabbed as a wrestler to watch in late November of last year, Deville has looked like a future champion in 2018 as a member of the SmackDown Live roster.

Deville has a great rapport with real-life best friend Mandy Rose, as the heel duo have imposed themselves on much of the SmackDown Women’s Division this year. If Rose, who has done plenty of work to make a name for herself this fall/winter, is unable to face Asuka at WWE Royal Rumble 2019, then Deville could work her way into a golden opportunity against the respected superstar.

Partially thanks to her MMA background, Deville has some of the best strikes in the business, throwing kicks and knees that could catch even Asuka off balance.

Sonya didn’t need much seasoning, so to speak, as an in-ring competitor before coming to the main roster, but the improvement has been noticeable, as she’s added more and more elements to her game. She has some nasty submissions, too, having put Ruby Riott in some lovely triangle chokes in their underrated NXT feud before/during both of their main roster call-ups in late 2017.

Any chance she gets, Deville will put her hair up and square up against the best of the best, as she is one of the heel wrestlers who loves to test herself against top competition. As the SmackDown Women’s Champion, there’s arguably nobody better than Asuka in that ring, and Deville would be a great matchup for her, especially with the similarities in their styles.

Whenever they’ve faced off in the ring this year, they have been incredible, and plenty of fans would love to see them battle with a championship on the line.
