After a long week of wrestling, two women have emerged as the topic of discussion in WWE—Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks.

Becky Lynch should come as no surprise. She wrestled in the biggest match of her career at WWE WrestleMania and pinned Ronda Rousey to become both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Champion. The Man handed Rousey her first loss by pinfall in controversial fashion and painted a huge target on her back in the process.

Indeed, she is the one to beat for any woman on the roster looking to make a name for herself. While Lynch is at the top of both division heading into the Superstar Shake-up, Sasha Banks is making headlines for very different reasons.

The Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection dropped the titles on Sunday, but the former champions were expected the next day. By all account, Banks was backstage before Raw this Monday, but she didn’t appear on television. She also canceled an appearance on the Wendy Williams Show, leaving many to speculate about her disappearance.

Thursday night, rumors swirled that Banks wants to leave WWE. Never one to miss the opportunity to stir the pot, Becky took to Twitter to challenge the former Raw Women’s Champion. It’s unclear what Sasha Banks will do next, but this could be a great feud.

Who’s better than Sasha Banks?

First and foremost, this immediately addresses a question fans all over the world must be asking themselves. Who can believably beat Becky Lynch now?

It can’t be just anyone. Lynch beat the “Baddest Woman on the Planet.” It wasn’t the most definitive win, but the fact remains that she beat the woman no one else in WWE could up to this point. More importantly, she overcame two champions in the same match, so the one who steps up to beat her must have some level of credibility.

Who better than Sasha Banks? She’s a four-time Raw Women’s Champion. Like Lynch, she has handed Charlotte Flair some of her most high-profile losses. Even more, she arguably came the closest to beating Ronda Rousey before Sunday night.

Her match against Banks was the biggest test of her WWE career up to that point. So, we know Sasha could be a credible threat to the dual champions.

Also, given the way Lynch won, it isn’t just a matter of is The Boss a plausible threat. She needs a formidable opponent to give title reign some significance.  If she’s going to prove her win at WrestleMania wasn’t a fluke, she has to take on someone else who is on her level.

Becky Lynch can prove she’s the best of the Horsewomen

Speaking of, this is the chance for Becky Lynch to prove once and for all that she is on the same level as Sasha Banks. Not just that, this is her chance to prove she has surpassed the other three Four Horsewomen.

This is unfinished business for Lynch. She had a great match against Banks at NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable, but she lost. Furthermore, the match isn’t seen as a watermark in women’s wrestling like The Boss’ matches with Bayley or the matches against Charlotte on the main roster.

As a matter of fact, Lynch is the only one of the four who was never crowned NXT Women’s Champion. In truth, a big part of what makes the emergence of “The Man” character so compelling is that she refused to stay in Charlotte’s shadow. However, she was arguably perceived as the lowest on the totem pole among the Four Horsewomen.

Challenging Sasha seemingly gives her the most to lose. But if she finally beats Banks, she could finally silence the critics and erase all the doubts about her place among the Horsewomen. It’s perfectly in character, and it would give Lynch another chance to put any questions about how good she is to bed.

Sasha Banks could lead the Blue Brand

Lastly, this could be a means of passing the torch to Sasha Banks. Becky Lynch is the inaugural SmackDown Women’s Champion. No other woman on the roster, other than possibly Alexa Bliss, is as synonymous with the title. Besides, she absolutely made the championship more relevant during her second reign.

Moreover, Lynch has been a part of the SmackDown roster for three years. If 2019 will mark the year that she makes her triumphant return to Monday Night Raw, then Banks has to be at the top of the list of worthy successors.

The blue brand needs a new woman to lead the division into the next calendar year, and Sasha could definitely use a change of scenery. She has also been on Raw for three years. If WWE wants to do a changing of the guard, she would be a great choice.

It would be fitting to see two stalwarts of their respective brands in a championship match, that could kickstart their time on a new roster. That creates an interesting story coming out of the Superstar Shake-up as well.

Sasha has never won the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Winning it from Lynch would be a fitting and memorable introduction to the brand, and a good send off for Becky.
