With Bayley switching to SmackDown Live in the WWE Superstar Shake-up, here are three feuds that should happen in the near future.
Despite receiving a negative reaction from the Montreal crowd on Tuesday night, Bayley is quietly one of the best additions to the SmackDown Live roster in the WWE Superstar Shake-up.
A move that should’ve been made a year ago, ‘The Huggable One’ gets a fresh start on Tuesday nights, and with that comes new matchups.
Bayley and Ember Moon both interrupted Raw and SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch this past Tuesday night, announcing their arrival on the blue brand. Having made it clear she’s on SmackDown to compete as a single’s competitor, the days of The Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection look to be over, especially with teammate Sasha Banks left behind on Monday nights.
Now reunited with the other two members of The Four Horsewomen, Bayley’s SmackDown switch creates some exciting potential feuds down the line.
While Bayley may have lost some momentum over the past two years — by no fault of her own — a move to Tuesday nights can help her climb back to the top of the mountain.
The WWE Superstar Shake-up is all about creating fresh matchups. And with the former Raw Women’s Champion now competing on SmackDown Live, here are three feuds we hope happen soon.
3. Charlotte Flair
It’s been two years since Bayley and Charlotte Flair battled over the Raw Women’s Championship. Bayley surprisingly defeated Charlotte for the title then, ending ‘The Queen’s’ undefeated streak at pay-per-views to retain the championship.
Their rivalry concluded with Bayley eliminating Flair last in a fatal four-way elimination match at WrestleMania 33, with Charlotte moving to SmackDown a couple of weeks later.
The two former champions on Raw and NXT have since taken different paths. Bayley held Raw’s top prize for 76 days, and in 2018 helped push for the creation of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, which she won with Sasha Banks inside the Elimination Chamber earlier this year.
Over on SmackDown, Charlotte became a three-time SmackDown Women’s Champion and ended Asuka’s undefeated streak on the grandest stage of them all.
If Bayley aims to reach the top of the SmackDown mountain and challenge Becky Lynch, first she needs to get past ‘The Queen’ who, let’s not forget, wasn’t pinned or submitted to lose her title at WrestleMania 35.
Two years on, now is the perfect time to renew a rivalry that started back in NXT and continued on Raw in 2017. It’s about time these two former rivals battled once again on SmackDown Live.
2. Asuka
Bayley’s list of accomplishments is as impressive as any. She’s a former Raw and NXT Women’s Champion, a former tag team champion, and she was also the NXT Female Competitor of the Year and Match of the Year winner in 2015.
Despite overcoming just about every obstacle in front of her, Bayley has yet to defeat Asuka.
It was Asuka who put an end to Bayley’s 223-day reign as NXT Women’s Champion, and ‘The Empress of Tomorrow’ was once again victorious in Bayley’s final NXT match at TakeOver: Brooklyn II.
In the months following Asuka’s arrival on the main roster, she picked up another victory over Bayley on Raw before moving to SmackDown in the spring.
Asuka’s focus may be on The IIconic’s titles as she teams up with SmackDown debutant Kairi Sane, but somewhere down the line, Bayley needs to finally defeat the longest-reigning NXT champion in history.
Bayley is at her best when she’s the underdog, and that should be the case in this feud. Imagine a scenario in which Asuka turns heel and begins a new undefeated streak as SmackDown Women’s Champion. Enter ‘The Huggable One’, who finally picks up a W over Asuka to win gold on the blue brand for the first time.
1. Becky Lynch
“I guess it’s been a while since we’ve seen each other, huh?”
Bayley wasn’t wrong when she interrupted Becky 2 Belts on SmackDown Live. With Bayley switching shows, this is the first time they’ve both been on the same main-roster brand together. By the time Bayley made her debut on Raw, Lynch was one of the top stars on SmackDown.
We’ve seen some great battles between members of The Four Horsewomen on the main roster. Charlotte and Sasha Banks had one of the rivalries of the year in 2016, which resulted in six title changes between the two of them and a match inside Hell in a Cell.
Becky Lynch and Charlotte began a long feud at SummerSlam last year, and the two battled for the SmackDown Women’s Championship in a Last Woman Standing Match at WWE Evolution, then competed with Ronda Rousey in the main event of WrestleMania earlier this month.
Bayley and Sasha Banks may have formed The Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection and won tag-team gold together, but they’ve hardly been best of friends this entire time.
The only two Horsewomen yet to feud on the main roster? That would be Bayley and Becky Lynch. Want a blockbuster match for SummerSlam? Here it is.
