Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Samoa Joe – WWE Championship

Call me crazy, but I feel like no matter who wins here tonight, this feud is not over. At the very least, I feel like there’s a lot in the tank here still that can take this feud to SummerSlam at the very least. I mean, for crying out loud, Samoa Joe passed out Kofi Kingston on last week’s Raw. Kofi Kingston hadn’t lost a match since the road to WrestleMania. That’s big.

I like to think that WWE wouldn’t just throw a rare loss at Kofi like that just to make Joe look strong for one PPV. Then again, common sense booking is asking a lot out of WWE these days, but even when they make dumb decisions, I don’t think WWE is run by a bunch of dummies. I think they’re smart enough to understand the potential in not only this feud, but a monster heel chaser in Joe. Most importantly, an angry, scary challenger in Joe with a temper.

In short, my prediction is that Kofi wins, but in a longer summary, I doubt that it happens by easy means. I think that Joe dominates this match. Gives Kofi the biggest beating we’ve seen him receive in months. First time we’ve seen him just straight up demolished as WWE Champion. But lo and behold, as Kofi always does, he pulls off an upset, maybe by reversing a Coquina Clutch into a roll up, perhaps. Joe’s not gonna like that. Not one bit.

So he attacks Kofi after the match and holds the title he believes he should have won high above his head. To add salt on the wound, maybe Joe attacks Big E and Woods that same night, or at least on the next SmackDown, to goad Kofi into a rematch. Then that rematch happens at SummerSlam.

That might’ve turned into a contrived bit of fantasy booking there, but I genuinely believe that is exactly what is going to happen. Report back to this slideshow when I’m proven right.

Prediction: Kofi
