3. Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart – Steel Cage Match – SummerSlam 1994

A Hell in a Cell match counts as a Steel Cage match, right? Well, in any case, this is the Steel Cage match to end all Steel Cage matches, as well as an exciting chapter in what was a fascinating, developing rivalry between real life brothers, Bret and Owen Hart.

The previous Royal Rumble saw the baby brother turn on his older brother when Owen “kicked [Bret’s] leg out of [his] leg” during their Tag Team Title match. To settle the score, Bret begrudgingly agreed to take on his younger brother at WrestleMania X, a match that Owen shockingly won in the opening contest. However, Owen was incensed to see at the closing of the show, his older brother won the WWE Championship and was holstered high in the air by the locker room, a spot Owen believed should have been him.

In the coming months, while The Hitman continued to retain his title against game competition, The Black Hart won the King of the Ring tournament and springboarded himself into a Steel Cage rematch against his big bro for the WWE Championship.

This one was nice to see because it wasn’t just two of the company’s best technical athletes, but also real life brothers who knew each other oh so well, which made for some incredible chemistry. Not to mention, they weren’t afraid to just lay it all into each other, which made for an intense contest.

Both men have had a bevy of terrific matches, but this may very well be their best ever. Right down to the nail biting climax.
