The Hart Foundation

Members: Bret Hart, Jim Neidhart, Jimmy Hart, Brian Pillman, Owen Hart, and Davey Boy Smith

There were two different versions of The Hart Foundation in WWE.

The initial stable began in the mid-1980s with Bret Hart, Jim Neidhart, and Jimmy Hart. Jimmy Hart was the mouthpiece for The Hart Foundation. Jimmy Hart was able to get the unknown characters of Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart over to the WWE fans due to his ability to connect with fans.

The caliber of matches that The Hart Foundation were having with The British Bulldogs, The Killer Bees, The Rockers, and others were matches that had never been seen before.

It wouldn’t take long before The Hart Foundation would turn into fan favorites due to their immense talent in the ring and the charisma of Jim Neidhart. Neidhart had blossomed into a figure that fans wanted to hear from in every promo due to his signature laugh and stroke of his goatee.

By 1991, The Hart Foundation had gone their own separate ways. Bret would be elevated due to the WWE Heavyweight Championship picture. His in-ring work was second to none, and he provided a realism that WWE needed in the wake of the steroid trial.

Brian Pillman, Davey Boy Smith, Jim Neidhart and Owen Hart would join Bret Hart in reforming The Hart Foundation in 1997. The stable would go on to hold every major championship in WWE in 1997.

The Hart Foundation embarked on a storyline never seen before or since. They would universally denounce the USA in promos, while praising Canada.

The apex of The Hart Foundation would be at In Your House: Canadian Stampede in Calgary. Calgary is the hometown of Bret and Owen Hart and the adopted hometown of Brian Pillman, Jim Niedhart, and Davey Boy Smith. All three men trained at Bret and Owen Harts house .They participated in  Stu Hart’s, wrestling promotion Stampede Wrestling.

The crowd for the main event was as electric as any crowd has ever been.

Tragedy struck The Hart Foundation in the following years as Brian Pillman, Owen Hart and Davey Boy Smith would all pass away in the span of 5 years. Sadly, Jim Neidhart also passed away in 2018. That leaves Bret Hart as the last living member of The Hart Foundation.
