OSAKA, JAPAN - JUNE 09: Chris Jericho looks on at the post match press conference during the Dominion 6.9 In Osaka-Jo Hall of NJPW on June 09, 2019 in Osaka, Japan. (Photo by Etsuo Hara/Getty Images)

It’s finally here. AEW All Out, where we will see the first-ever AEW World Champion crowned. Chris Jericho and Hangman Adam Page main event for that title, but we will also be getting Kenny Omega against PAC, and the Young Bucks against the Lucha Brothers in a ladder match.

The AEW card, as a whole, is shaping up to be one for the ages, with a wide variety of matches that will all bring something different and exciting to the show.

Shawn Spears vs. Cody will be one of the more personal matches on the card, utilizing a lot of old school storytelling in the build-up to the match. The addition of Tully Blanchard to Spears’ side has given him a great boost and helped turn him into a wonderful heel. The big question for us, rising out of The Road to All Out, is this: Who will be in Cody’s corner?

We’ll also be seeing Riho vs. Hikaru Shida. Riho is a personal favorite of mine, so this is one match that I am really looking forward to. Speaking of women’s wrestling, a challenger will be crowned in the Pre-show Casino Battle Royale, as 21 women will fight for the chance to challenge for the AEW World Women’s Championship.

Also on the card will be the absolutely insane Cracker Barrel Clash between Joey Janela, Jimmy Havoc, and Darby Allin. Really, given it’s these three, there’s not much to be said other than “expect an insane match.”

21-Woman Casino Battle Royale for a shot at the AEW World Women’s Championship

Leva Bates, Nyla Rose, Faby Apache, Chalandra Royale, and Priscilla Kelly start the match, and Nyla Rose eliminates Apache, Royale, and Kelly very quickly. She tried to throw Bates over the top rope right away, but Bates hung onto the ropes with her feet and Peter Avalon put books on the floor to keep her from stepping directly on the floor. Unfortunately, she got back in the ring and Rose threw her out.

Penelope Ford, Sadie Gibbs, Shazza McKenzie, Big Swole, and Britt Baker made their entrance and Ford flew off the top rope wit ha kick on Rose. Shazza McKenzie tried to throw Baker out, but Baker grabbed her by the face. Shazza bit her, but Baker pulled her over the top rope by HER TEETH to eliminate her. Big Swole and Nyla fought in the middle of the ring, but Nyla eventually hit a Uranage that sent Swole onto the apron and to the floor.

Nyla hit Ford with a German suplex and then dumped her over the top rope. Tenille Dashwood, Ivelisse, Brandi Rhodes, Bea Priestly, and Awesome Kong made their way to the ring. Baker attacked Bea on the ramp. Kong slowly made her way to the ring as Dashwood, Gibbs, and Ivelisse battled.

Brandi tried to direct Kong all over the ring, but Kong accidentally dropped Brandi. Ivelisse and Dashwood attacked Kong, and Brandi hit a Stunner on Rose for a big pop. Kong eliminated Dashwood and Ivelisse. Allie, Nicole Savoy, ODB, Teal Piper, and Jazz made their way into the ring. Savoy was thrown into the ropes by Kong and Savoy hit a suicide dive through the middle ropes onto all the women on the outside.

ODB brought out her cask, but Teal Piper used a Greco Roman Eye Poke and then locked on a Sleeper Hold. Piper was thrown through the middle rope by Kong and Savoy was thrown out by Rose. ODB, Rose, Kong, and Jazz faced off. The final participant was Mercedes Martinez! Jazz and Kong were thrown out, and while Mercedes made he way to the ring, Brandi was thrown out. Martinez ran wild, running over everyone, before hitting a brutal curb stomp on Bea.

Martinez hit a huge back suplex on Rose before Allie managed to hit a Death Valley Driver on Mercedes. Nyla managed to throw out Allie. Gibbs ran wild and hit a bunch of high flying moves. Sadie tried to skin the cat after Bea threw her out, but Bea caught her and shoved her back over. Our final four are Mercedes, Baker, Rose, and Bea. Baker hit a slingblade on Mercedes. Bea went for a hurricanrana on Rose, but Rose powerbombed her.

Baker and Mercedes tried to throw out Rose, but Bea saved her and threw Baker and Mercedes to the apron. Baker superkicked Mercedes off the apron. Baker and Bea almost eliminated Rose, but Rose hung on to the ropes and hit a cartwheel kick on Baker and Bea as they ran at her. Baker hit a Canadian Destroyer on Priestly before hitting a superplex on Rose.

Baker ate a knee from Bea, but Baker sent Priestly to the floor after a springboard attempt. Priestly tried to pull Baker over the top rope and Nyla ended up taking advantage of the assist and dumped Baker to the outside for the win!

Result: Nyla Rose

Rating: **½ (2.5 stars)

A decent battle royale to open the show! Nyla Rose is going on to AEW on TNT on October 2nd and will compete for the AEW World Women’s Championship! We got a Hogan/Sid like finish, but Bea is clearly a heel, unlike Hogan, who should have been (because what a heel move that was! The even edited the boos out as the crowd was cheering Sid… anyway, I lost my thought there…)

Good match!

Private Party (Isiah Cassidy & Marc Quen) vs. Angélico & Jack Evans

Angelico and Cassidy started the match, and Evans looked intense on the apron. He can’t be happy with his record in AEW thus far, and you can tell he wants this one. Angelico and Cassidy exchanged some move attempts before Cassidy hit an armdrag that took Angelico to the mat. Both men tagged out, and Quen tried to get the advantage on Quen, and Quen lost his sunglasses in the process. Evans kicked the glasses to the outside.

Evans managed to get the advantage after Quen tagged back in and hit a springboard corkscrew enziguri on Quen before tagging out to Angelico. Evans and Angelico got the heat on Quen for a bit, with Evans locking on a wacky lucha armbar. Evans brought Quen to the other side of the ring and ran at him, but Quen hit a forearm on Evans and springboarded across the ring to make the tag to Cassidy!

Cassidy ran wild and then hit a flying hurricanrana on Angelico to the outside. Quen went for a springboard into the ring, but cut himself off as Evans ducked and hit a moonsault off the middle rope on Angelico before hitting a lionsault on Evans. Quen and Cassidy ran wild and stomped on Evans’ head. Private Party hit a From the Window to the Wall Tornado DDT, which was insane. Quen grabbed Evans’ feet and assisted Cassidy with a Destino!

Cassidy then hit a corckscrew plancha on Angelico before Quen hit a shooting star press! Cassidy was the legal man so Evans kicked out in time. Cassidy went for a moonsault, but Evans cut him off with a German Suplex. Angelico and Evans ended up on opposite ropes, but they were cut off. All four men ended up on the ropes. Quen hit an avalanche reverse rana on Evans and then Cassidy hit a second reverse rana on Evans before Quen hit a hurricanrana off the top on Angelico, sending him right into a cutter from Cassidy. Private Party win!

Result: Private Party

Rating ***¾ (3.75 stars)

Evans and Angelico attacked after the bell and tried to rip apart the legs of both men to keep them out of the Tag Title tournament. Evans screamed “We’re the best that’s ever been!” as they left, solidifying the heel turn. This was so great. The crowd showered them with boos and chanted “Party Poopers!”

A hype video aired for Wardlow, showing him beating up a series of punks. This was awesome.

MJF cut a promo that largely involved him hitting on the interviewer instead of actually answering the questions. Good heel promo.

A Boy, a Small Boy, and Their Dinosaur (Jungle Boy, Marko Stunt, & Luchasaurus) vs. SoCal Uncensored (Scorpio Sky, Frankie Kazarian, & Christopher Daniels)

The show opened with the American National Anthem being played. It was a fantastic performance.

SCU cut a promo before the match and got a loud SCU chant from the crowd. The intro of the Jungle Express was incredible. Kazarian and Jungle Boy started the match with some very fast chain wrestling. Several pinfall attempts happened here and neither man could get the advantage. Daniels tagged in and got the advantage over Jungle Boy with some double team offense, ending with an STO.

Jungle Boy hit a hurricanrana and then an Arabian Press into an armdrag before tagging in the Luchasaurus. Luchasaurus hit a massive suplex on Daniels. Marko Stunt hit a hurricanrana and ran wild on everyone before hitting a huge dive on everyone on the outside. Luchasaurus ran and hit a massive top con giro on everyone! Holy crap!

Luchasaurus put Stunt on his shoulders, and Stunt dove off onto Daniels. Jungle Boy tagged in and got a near fall on Daniels. Daniels eventually cut him off and then did The Floss to mock Marko Stunt. That was great. Daniels and Kaz hit a sitout powerbomb/neckbreaker combo. All three men attacked Jungle Boy, ending with Kazarian hitting a corner dropkick. Daniels locked Jungle Boy in a half nelson chinlock, but Jungle Boy managed to hit a clothesline and made the hot tag to Luchasaurus.

Luchasaurus ran wild, taking everyone out before hitting spinning kick on Daniels, a kick on Scorpio Sky, a Chokeslam on Kazarian, and then a standing moonsault on Kaz for a nearfall!

Stunt was spun into a massive DDT on Daniels, but SCU didn’t stay out for long and they hit Celebrity Rehab on Jungle Boy before Kazarian hit a hurricanrana, taking everyone out on the outside. Kazarian grabbed both Stunt and Jungle Boy into the tombstone position and hit a double Best Meltzer Ever for the pinfall!

Result: SCU

Rating: ***½ (3.5 stars)

This was an excellent match. After the match they all shook hands as SCU gave them respect and held their hands up. This got every single guy in the match over, as all six men looked awesome.

https://twitter.com/brlive/status/1167964058047238147

Omega and PAC exchanged strikes, but Omega killed PAC with another knee! Omega went for the One Winged Angel, but PAC locked in the Brutalizer while they were standing, and Omega passed out in the move! Holy crap! PAC wins!

Result: PAC

Rating: ****¾ (4.75 stars)

This was an absolutely fantastic match. PAC has made his mark, and has a very strong case for getting an AEW World title shot. The announcers told the story of this match, with Omega focusing on Moxley, he underestimated PAC. Wow.

Joey Janela vs. Darby Allin vs. Jimmy Havoc

As the bell rang, Havoc went to the outside and immediately pulled out chairs and a table. Havoc also pulled out a staple gun. He stapled himself and said bring it. They ran at him and all three went to the outside. Allin and Janela taped Havoc to a chair, put thumbtacks in his mouth, and then taped his mouth shut. Wow. Allin hit a tope on Janela before hitting a flying armdrag and then a flipping stunner on Janela.

Allin climbed to the top rope and Havoc motioned to Allin to bring it. Allin hit a flip dive off the top rope onto Havoc, who crashed threw the chair. Allin went for the Coffin Drop on Janela, but Janela cut him off and hit the Emerald Flowsion right into the apron. Janela pulled a tennis racket out from under the ring before throwing it away. I wonder who that was a reference to? Janela setup a table on the floor. Havoc ripped off the tape from his face and spit the thumbtacks out into his hand and threw them at Janela!

Havoc took a chair, a staple gun, and a piece of paper into the ring. Havoc gave Janela a papercut between the index and middle finger. Havoc setup a chair in the corner, stapled Janela, and then did a monkey flip, but Janela held onto the chair and landed in a seated position! Havoc did a papercut on Janela’s mouth, but Janela got up and hit a brainbuster on the chair! Janela then hit a sunset flip off the apron through the table on Allin!

Janela got up and went for a moonsault to the floor on Havoc, but Havoc moved and Joey just splatted to the floor. That was horrifying, and easily the worst bump of the match. Havoc hit Janela with a tray full of biscuits and then rolled the barrel to ringside. You might say he rolled out the barrel. Havoc and Janela ended up back in the ring, but Allin came in with a skateboard with the bottom covered in thumbtacks. Allin jumped off the turnbuckle and landed with the skateboard on Janela’s back. He kicked out.

Allin brought a barrel into the ring and put Janela onto the chest of Havoc. Havoc got up and hit a suplex onto the barrel and then hit an Acid Rainmaker onto the barrel for the pinfall!

Result: Jimmy Havoc

Rating: ***½

Wow. Just wow. The worst bump of that match, by far, was the moonsault to the floor. That thud was horrifying. Everything else, despite being violent, was relatively safe.

The Dark Order (Evil Uno & Stu Grayson) vs. The Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent Beretta)

Taylor and Beretta sent the Dark Order to the floor and hugged each other. They gave a Rainmaker camera for it, and then JR said, “I think when this happens, everyone should hug the person next to them.” That is a great and friendly idea, JR. Trent and Grayson faced off as the crowd chanted “Spooky Perverts” at the Dark Order, and I sense a new T-Shirt.

Trent went for a slingshot into the ring, but Evil Uno grabbed his feet and Grayson hit a dropkick that sent Trent off the apron and into the guardrail. Uno sent Trent up for a sidewalk slam and Grayson flew off the ropes into an elbow drop. Uno sent Trent into the corner and Grayson began to work over Trent with hard strikes and a front suplex onto the top rope.

Taylor continued to fight both men, but Grayson cut him off with a kick. Trent made the blind tag, and Taylor launched Grayson into a German suplex by Trent. They hit a crusher, but Grayson kicked out. Grayson hit a corkscrew splash onto Taylor and all the creepers, while Evil Uno hit a senton bomb onto Trent. Trent kicked out.

Uno threw Trent into the turnbuckle, but Chuck was able to stay on top of it and sent Evil Uno to the floor.

Chuck hit the Awful Waffle on Grayson, but Evil Uno pulled Trent from the ring and the Creepers beat on Trent. Evil Uno and Grayson went for the Fatality on Trent before getting the pinfall victory.

Result: The Dark Order

Rating: **¾ (2.75)

This was a solid tag match, but the lack of heat for the Dark Order wasn’t good. They might need some big angles and promos to help explain their characters. Grayson sent Trent into the guardrail after the match. The Dark Order then went to carry Trent backstage, but the lights went out and Orange Cassidy was in the middle of the ring!

Cassidy made the save and did a suicide dive while his hands were in his pockets! His sunglasses stayed on, and he rolled into the ring and just stood there while The Best Friends hugged him! It looks like we have a new stable in AEW.

Hikaru Shida vs. Riho: The Winner Faces Nyla Rose for the AEW World Women’s Championship

Shida used her size advantage in the early part of this match, as Riho went for an armdrag, but Shida just powered out. Riho hit a dropkick after bridging out of a pinfall attempt. Shida hit a giant knee strike in the corner, dropping Riho. Shida hit a knee lift from ringside and went for a pinfall attempt, but Riho kicked out.

Shida went for another PK, but Riho grabbed her leg and then hit a Northern Lights Suplex!

Riho hit a running meteora, but Shida kicked out! Riho went back onto the top rope and missed a stomp, but landed on her feet and hit a meteora to the back of Shida’s head.

Shida then hit a judo throw and a horrific backbreaker, but Riho just kicked out! Riho rolled up Shida and got a nearfall! They exchanged a series of pinfall attempts, but Riho did a leg scissors on Shida’s arm, spun around in midair, and then rolled Shida up for the pinfall! Holy cow!

Result: Riho

Rating **** (4 stars)

The match didn’t have a ton of heat because both women are a bit of an unknown quantity in AEW, but Riho and Shida was able to get them into the nearfalls. This match makes perfect sense since Riho has a pinfall victory over Rose already.

Shawn Spears w/ Tully Blanchard vs. Cody Rhodes w/ MJF

Brandi Rhodes, Pharaoh, Diamond Dallas Page, and MJF all walked to the ring in Star Trek gear, and Cody made an entrance, rising through the stage with pyro. That was awesome. Poor Pharoah looked scared, but he came along to ringside. Cody asked MJF to stay at ringside.

The match started with Cody hitting a suicide dive on Spears and then nailing Tully! Tully got up, and a Rhodes faced off against Tully again, but Spears grabbed him and pulled him over the guardrail. Both men brawled into the crowd, and the crowd went insane. Cody hit a powerslam on the floor, as the crowd insane. Tully Blanchard gave Cody such an amazing look here, which said “I hate you. I hate Dusty’s kids.” It was so great.

Cody went to punch Spears, but Tully caught his arm and Spears hit a low blow. Spears got the heat now, beating on Cody and using every cheap trick in the book. Cody managed to hit a dropping uppercut, but Spears sent Cody shoulder first into the ring post and then hit a draping DDT on the apron! Holy cow.

Cody fired up and kicked Spears right in the face! Cody then locked on a figure four, but Spears rolled over immediately and put the pressure on Cody.

Cody got the ropes, but Spears hit a Death Valley Driver onto the entrance ramp. MJF was yelling in Cody’s ear “Don’t quit!” as the count got closer to 10, and Cody made it into the ring by the 9 count. As they both got up, Cody managed to hit the Cross Rhodes, but Tully distracted the ref and there was almost a 3 count. Tully taped up his wrist and looked like he was going to fight MJF! MJF folded his scarf and threw it at Tully. Both of them started choking each other, but Spears hit a pump kick to MJF and as Tully was beating on MJF on the floor, Arn Anderson came down to the ring and hit a spinebuster on Spears!

The crowd exploded, and Tully walks up the ramp asking Arn why his former Tag Team partner was on the side of Cody! Back in the ring, Cody grabbed a chair and Spears begged Cody to do it. Cody threw the chair down and hit the flip, flop, and fly like his dad. Cody then threw the chair at Spears and hit a disaster kick into the chair! Cody hit the Cross Rhodes and got the win!

Result: Cody Rhodes

Rating: ****½

This was so great. An absolutely fantastic, old school match. Spears had something to prove by showing he could work a main event match, and he did. MJF picked up the chair after the match and looked like he was going to hit Cody, but he threw it away and did a handshake with Cody and hugged him. The hint here was so great. MJF is going to turn on Cody eventually, and it will be delightful.

The Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. & Rey Fenix) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson): Ladder Match for the AAA World Tag Team Championship

The Lucha Bros said “Cero Miedo” and the Bucks said something a bit graphic, and the match started. Duel spinning kicks to the Bucks, band Pentagon and Fenix went for a finish right away. The Bucks countered and went for the Meltzer Driver, but the Bros countered. Fenix hit a powerbomb on Matt Jackson and then Pentagon hit a dropkick off the top rope to the crotch to Matt. Ouch.

As the Lucha Bros went for a dive, the Bucks threw a ladder into their face and set it up on the outside. Matt sent Nick into the air, and he hit a dropkick. The Bucks hit a Powerbomb/Enziguri combo before hitting a kick to the face of Fenix and getting on the ladder at ringside. The Bros superkicked them off the ladder and Pentagon hit a springboard onto Nick Jackson.

Fenix then ran and springboarded off the ropes, over the ladder, into a flip dive onto everyone. Wow. Fenix put a ladder into the ring while Pentagon chopped the crap out of Nick Jackson. The Bucks pulled the Bros off the ladder, but Fenix and Nick flew onto the ladder from the ropes. They got pulled off and Matt and Pentagon went up to the top of the ladders. Nick and Fenix hit cutters off the ladder on their respective brothers.

Both Fenix and Nick kicked each other in the face, while Matt and Pentagon hit spears threw the middle ropes and threw the ringside tables onto their respective brothers! Pentagon and Matt got in the ring, and Matt sent Pentagon towards a ladder that was in the corner. Pentagon slid outside of the ring, but Nick ran in and ran up the ladder and springboarded off the top rope with a corkscrew to the outside!

Matt and Nick set up Pentagon for the springboard 450 onto a ladder, but Fenix ended up hitting a hurricanrana off the ropes sending Nick crashing to the mat. Fenix pushed Nick off the ladder, but Nick landed on the ropes and hit a springboard flip onto Pentagon. Fenix and Nick ended up on the outside while Matt Jackson climbed the ladder. Pentagon cut him off with a slingblade off the ladder!

Pentagon set up the ladder again, but close to the ropes. He chopped Nick Jackson. Nick sent Pentagon to the floor and then hit a tope con giro through the ladder to the floor on Pentagon! Fenix decided to top it by slingshotting himself into the ring, through the ladder, into a Canadian Destroyer on Matt Jackson! Holy crap. Fenix set up a table in the middle of the ring and a ladder in the corner.

Fenix climbed up the ladder, but Matt Jackson came off the table and went to superplex Fenix off the ladder through the table. Pentagon stopped him though and hit a Canadian Destroyer off the ladder through the table! OH MY GOODNESS. Well, that was the most insane spot of the night. Nick Jackson and Fenix setup their respective brothers on tables on the opposite side of the ring. They dared each other to jump, and both men hit splashes off the ladder through the tables.

Fenix set up a ladder on the apron but Nick Jackson flew over it and hit a tornado DDT. Nick set up two tables on the outside, but Fenix hit a superkick on Nick before he could powerbomb him to the outside. Matt Jackson hit a superkick on Fenix, and Pentagon was caught in a sharpshooter by Nick Jackson. Every time Matt tried to climb the ladder Pentagon grabbed his feet. Pentagon shoved the ladder over on Nick Jackson, and Nick flew to the floor through a table. Nick almost died as his feet caught on the ropes, but he was okay.

Pentagon and Matt Jackson ended up on the top of the ladder, but Matt Jackson ripped of Pentagon’s mask! Pentagon fell to the mat and then shoved the ladder over. Matt Jackson fell awkwardly right onto the ladder back first. Pentagon then picked him up and they hit the Package Piledriver onto the ladder that was on the apron! The Lucha Brothers climbed the ladder got the titles!

Result: The Lucha Brothers

Rating ***** (5 stars)

This match was utterly insane. It might be the best ladder match I’ve ever seen. After the match, two masked men came down and took out the Lucha Brothers and Fenix and Pentagon! They unmasked, and it was LAX!

Holy crap. This tag division is stacked.

“Hangman” Adam Page vs. ‘The Painmaker’ Chris Jericho: AEW World Championship

Hangman came out riding a horse, like the cowboy he is. Great intro, with a great reaction from the crowd. Jericho came out with a big pyro display, and he looked like a total star here. Exactly what he should be presented as. Aubrey Edwards was refereeing the match, and this is a huge deal to have her as the senior official for the promotion.

Jericho and Page locked up and went to the corner. Jericho hit an armdrag but Page fired up and hit a series of punches and chops. Page caught Jericho off a crossbody and hit a fallaway slam before clotheslining Jericho to the floor. Page hit a massive chop on Jericho and both men started to brawl at ringside. Jericho ran around ringside, trying to sucker him in, but Page hit a big boot back in the ring.

Jericho kicked out. Jericho managed to hit a missile dropkick, but Page kicked out. Jericho went for the Liontamer, but Page twisted out and Jericho spilled to the floor. Jericho went to the outside and exposed the railing before wrapping Page’s arm up in it and kicking it right in front of the referee. Jericho grabbed a mic and hit Page right in the head with it.

Back in the ring, Page tried to fight back, but Jericho hit an ARMBAR! Takedown. Jericho posed like 1998 Jericho, and it was great. He then worked over the arm more by wrapping it in the ropes and yanking on it. Jericho then began to target Hangman’s knee. Result: Chris Jericho

Rating: ****¾ (4.75 stars)

This was an absolutely fantastic main event match, with Jericho doing everything he could to make Page look like an absolute star. Jericho countered the rolling elbow, which Page hit 3 times, but he went to the well one too many times and he outwrestled him. Page had him beat, but Jericho crawled away the winner with one move. The psychology of this was perfect, as Page caused Jericho to bleed with the rolling elbow. He saw success with it and hit it three times, so Jericho, being the veteran, countered the 4th time.

Page walked out looking like a main event star, and Jericho looked like he lost the match with how badly he was beaten, but he walked out the champ. All the right calls, I think.

Show Rating: ***** (5 stars)

That was an excellent show from top to bottom, and I think as far as the booking goes, they have set up their TV very well. Having Jericho as the first champion after a very good main event is the right call. Page will have a long road from here to the title, and that’s okay. He looked good in this match, and Jericho barely won. That puts Page right on his level, as all it took was one mistake from Jericho and it would have gone the other way.

I can’t wait for AEW’s TV show to start on October 2nd, ad this show has set up the first few episodes perfectly. It doesn’t get much better than that.
