WWE Worlds Collide 2020: NXT vs. NXT UK – Official preview and predictions

Finn Balor vs. Ilja Dragunov

Not much to say about the build to this one. More of a showcase match than a feud, though both competitors have cut promos recently on their respective shows addressing each other and vowing to win.

For Ilja Dragunov, he is in the middle of a big push on NXT UK where he is feuding with WALTER and building towards a potential United Kingdom Championship match. In the meantime, Finn Balor is booked for the next TakeOver show to take on Johnny Gargano in Portland.

In theory, it’s not hard to imagine the more experienced and established Superstar getting a win on the hungry rookie. By that same theory, this likely would be similar to Ilja Dragunov’s match with Cesaro at NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff where he put up a good fight, but took the L against the bigger name.

However, thinking back to who I have winning the bulk of this card, NXT is sweeping NXT UK. Someone has to win something from across the pond so that the UK brand doesn’t look so bad. After all, I’d imagine WWE would like curious fans who haven’t seen NXT UK yet to be enticed by the roster to check it out after tonight.

Having everyone from NXT UK lose matches against the bigger US brand does them no favors. But maybe Dragunov getting an upset win over Balor could do the trick.
