There’s a big question mark regarding who Becky Lynch could defend her WWE Raw Women’s Championship against at WrestleMania. Let’s look at some options.

As the WWE Raw Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch has reigned supreme as one of the biggest top names that the company has to offer. There was a time that she was even WWE’s top merchandise seller before The Fiend took that spot in her place. That’s how high The Man’s star has risen over the past year or so.

Any match with the champion is going to be viewed as a high profile bout and there is no higher platform that such a bout could take place on than WrestleMania. Which is why we have all been speculating who Lynch could face on The Grandest Stage of Them All just two months before it is set to air. At the moment, her opponent appears to be up in the air.

With Charlotte Flair winning the Royal Rumble match recently, it would not be hard to imagine The Queen picking The Man and her title as her opponent for WrestleMania, especially seeing as Flair lost their Mania main event last year without being pinned in the triple threat. However, in lieu of strong rumors that Flair could cash in her title opportunity against NXT Champion Rhea Ripley, a one-on-one between Lynch and Flair at Mania seems unlikely.

At the same time, fans and critics continue to speculate that Ronda Rousey is in the running to face The Man at WrestleMania – this time, in a one-on-one fashion – but that in itself seems unclear at the moment, as does Rousey’s foreseeable future with the company in general.

So who could Becky Lynch wrestle and defend her championship against at WrestleMania? The question, on the surface, appears to be a massive headscratcher, but thanks to WWE having a wonderfully deep roster of Superstars ready to step up to the plate, there are plenty of options on the table. So I looked at some believable, realistic options and took a few wild guesses at who could come around for The Man at Mania.

Let’s start with the no-brainer who has been on everybody’s minds since the Royal Rumble.

Shayna Baszler

Shayna Baszler has been positioned as a top candidate rumored to face Becky Lynch for the title at Mania ever since she picked up a victory over her (granted, she pinned Bayley in the triple threat, not Lynch) in the main event of Survivor Series, her first major PPV event.

Baszler has since lost her NXT Championship, but that did not stop her from being a favorite to win the Royal Rumble in hopes of her moving on to a bigger title on a bigger brand against a bigger threat. Of course, as we know now, that was not the case.

However, the rumors about Baszler vs. Lynch being planned for WrestleMania continue to circulate. It is a mystery to imagine how the proposed match could happen and how Baszler could jump from one brand to the next without needing a Rumble win to justify the move, but this is certainly a match that should not be taken off the table at this point.

The story is certainly there, what with both Superstar’s history with each other and Lynch’s history with the former NXT Champion’s Horsewoman buddy. Then, of course, let’s not forget just how incredible their TV segments were together last fall. That interview segment up there alone was WrestleMania worthy.

Maybe it’s time to bring a WrestleMania worthy feud to WrestleMania.

Nia Jax

Nia Jax has been absent from WWE TV for nearly a year now as she has been recovering from injuries on both knees ever since last year’s WrestleMania ended. There has been much rumor and speculation regarding when the former Raw Women’s Champion could make her return to television, but not much talk regarding what she could do or who she could feud with upon her return.

If WWE struggle coming up with a return feud for The Irresistible Force, they could always decide to rekindle the rivalry between her and Becky Lynch. Or, rather, kickstart it officially for the first time.

As we all may recall, Jax legitimately broke The Man’s face with a deadly punch that wound up depriving us of the one-on-one match booked between Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch that was booked for Survivor Series six days later. Since then, WWE did not so much as jump an onscreen feud off from there, as much as they revisited the moment in small doses over the next couple months.

The next time Lynch saw Jax on television was in a brief angle at TLC where she laid out the self-proclaimed Facebreaker backstage. Then, she eliminated Jax from the Royal Rumble a month later, where Jax injured Lynch’s knee and nearly cost her the match. Beyond that, such a feud never came to fruition.

It’s not too long to revisit this for a feud in full. A feud like this has enough weight to it that it would not look out of place on a WrestleMania stage.

Stephanie McMahon

No, not that boss. This boss. The boss.

I understand that a lot of readers may not want to see Becky Lynch face a non-wrestler – especially when that non-wrestler is one of the top executives of WWE – at WrestleMania, opposed to an actual wrestler who could use the opportunity. Hear me out for a second.

For starters, it is a match that Becky Lynch has been campaigning to happening for quite some time now. More recently doing so during an episode of WWE Backstage. Clearly, she recognizes just how huge of a match this would be. A star of Lynch’s magnitude deserves to wrestle in big matches – especially in big events like WrestleMania – and a match against the Billion Dollar Princess is most certainly a big match.

A match against Stephanie McMahon will immediately be viewed and treated as one of the show’s marquee matches, meaning it will be one of the matches with a huge spotlight beamed on it regardless if it claims the main event spot or not.

The women’s division, its focal title and the star holding it all deserve to have that sort of spotlight at WrestleMania and if Lynch wrestling a non-wrestler gets The Man that spotlight, then that’s not a bad thing at all.
