3. Cody

While this may be a weird selection after last week’s interaction with a debuting Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Roberts also didn’t say when he would bring his client to AEW. Considering the most likely scenario seems to be the Mar. 18 episode (when a certain Brodie Lee’s non-compete clause will have expired in time for), this one to two week sojourn with Page is intriguing for multiple reasons.

If Page chooses Cody, would Cody believe it’s due to their ties to The Elite? Would Page be planting the seeds for some sort of turn?

Maybe Page chooses Cody since he is the best singles babyface wrestler not necessarily tied to another story (well, besides Moxley). Cody also has an extensive history as a tag team wrestler, including a small one in AEW, so turning to his expertise makes sense, coupled with his relationship with Page.

Further, Cody has a history with both Jericho and Guevara. Remember, Cody had a self-imposed stipulation that he could never challenge for the AEW World Championship after his loss to Jericho, a booking corner that will be interesting to see how AEW rectifies.

While his story with MJF occupied Cody for the last four months or so, what would happen if Cody ended up pinning Jericho in this tag match considering Jericho seems poised for a rematch with Moxley?

Don’t forget about the first match in Dynamite history:

This possibility is intriguing if Cody takes the pin to Guevara. Guevara, arrogant pretty boy “Spanish God” that he is, could take a page out his mentor Jericho’s book and remind us all the time about that one time he pinned Cody. Of course, he would conveniently forget to mention the above match, only agitating fans even more.

This could lead to a feud with a payoff match at Double or Nothing. Presumably after Cody wins, Roberts’ client could debut by decimating Cody, helping build to a match at the next PPV.

One of the more interesting aspects of Cody teaming with Page is just how Page would respond to any sort of miscue between the two. We’ve seen with Omega that while there have been tense moments, Page and Omega seem fine (for now). With Page’s feelings of being left out of The Elite, how would Cody’s presence play a role in Page’s response?

A miscue between the two leading to Guevara pinning Page could be just another ingredient into the recipe that is the eventual turn of Page on The Elite. That, dear readers, is an enticing dish, but maybe not as much as the next.
