2. A Buck of Youth

Now THIS would be a salivating choice.

Prior to their bout with The Young Bucks at Revolution, Jim Ross had a sit-down interview with both teams on Dynamite where Nick Jackson dropped this gem:

The Bucks lost, and though all seemed to be good after the match, Page did leave the other three in the ring as he collected beer after beer from the fans.

The tension between Page and The Elite seems to have a focus on his relationship with Nick and Matt Jackson. I don’t care to watch BTE (we were told “no shoulder content” would be necessary, after all), but what we’ve seen on Dynamite and PPVs seems to reflect this dynamic.

Maybe Page decides he’ll be able to figure out the truth about The Bucks’ opinions if he chooses one of them as his partner. In that weird logic that only makes sense since it’s wrestling, the best way to understand someone and their intentions is to team with them…until it doesn’t work and they turn on you.

He can choose Nick with the justification being Page is going to show Nick that “he’s no jobber” as Nick said. He can choose Matt simply for being the most vicious and angry with his verbal attacks as a way to “shut him up.” Either way, he’s choosing one of them to show them that he’s better than than they think he is.

A miscue in this match, however, could explode into a gripping story if done well. The Bucks, as they reiterated in their sit down interview, are “the best tag team in the world.” Any miscommunication, even with a different partner, belies their claim.

Further, with the simmering tension between them and Page, would either be able to hold back?

I also think this could be an opportune time to turn The Bucks.

If a miscue happens and they lose, think of how much buzz there will be for the post-match happenings. Page could be visibly frustrated while The Bucks try their best to calm him down and apologize.

Page looks a bit apprehensive, but acquiesces only to receive double superkicks to lay him out. The Bucks stand over and stare at him with no emotion on their faces, leave the ring, and heading backstage to loud boos (and possible items being thrown at them).

This would lead to even more interest to see what Omega’s reaction would be upon his return, and if he sides with The Bucks, what’s to become of the Tag Team Championships? If he sides with Page, then we can have another all-time match with distinct faces and heels, a trait not necessarily present in the first match.

While this might be the most intriguing purely by story, I think the last option would help create an even bigger babyface star in “Hangman” Page.
