Boom: the continued ascendance of Big Swole

More from Daily DDT

Last week, I raved about Big Swole winning a quick squash over Leva Bates not just for her, but because it brought a nice change of pace to the show. This week, Swole continued her rise up the women’s division after confronting Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. during her now weekly talk with Tony Schiavone.

Swole is talented and has a pretty prominent spot in the women’s division. She confronted Women’s Champion Nyla Rose (along with Statlander) before Statlander was named #1 contender. Now she seems poised for a match at Double or Nothing with Baker, maybe the most recognized wrestler in the division.

Swole didn’t even need to say much on the mic to let fans know she is all about that business (if they didn’t already know from her matches). Her body language as she walked out was that of, “Is this girl serious right now?” When Baker hid behind Schiavone, Swole said, “Why you hiding behind Tony? PSA boo: he don’t even like you.”

Then, when Baker had the audacity to insult Swole’s husband, who Baker called “boyfriend,” Swole emphatically responded, “I’m married, bay bay.”

Hmm, I wonder what she was referencing?

By the way, Swole’s husband is another fantastic wrestler in Cedric Alexander.

I would book Swole to win her match or matches against Baker and set her up as a future challenger for Rose. Outside of Shida and an eventually returning Riho, there doesn’t seem to be a legitimate queue of title challengers.

Maybe Swole can build to a title shot for the late summer/early fall PPV after a couple months of build. I hope she gets at least one title match in a one-on-one scenario.

Well, it was a show that had reasonable and justifiable booking; it just wasn’t a show that blew me away. Hey, maybe I’m in the minority, and if I am, let me know. Maybe a slight comedown was necessary as we build towards Double or Nothing in May, however.

Let’s see what next week has in store for us. See you then!
