5 wrestlers who can become the face of AEW in the future
Sadie Gibbs
It’s hard to believe that Sadie Gibbs made her professional wrestling debut in British Empire Wrestling in December 2017, meaning she had less than two years of in-ring experience before signing with AEW. Her opponent in that match? Pro Wrestling: EVE’s legendary heel Jetta!
Gibbs is one of the fastest risers in the wrestling business, as she debuted in Stardom less than one month after her BEW appearance by wrestling in a tag team match with Mari Apache.
Since signing with AEW in the summer of 2019, Gibbs hasn’t wrestled in any singles matches or on Dynamite. But she has made a couple of appearances on Dynamite and has won a match on AEW Dark, pinning Big Swole in tag team competition. Her teammate? Former Knockouts Champion Allie. Her other opponent? Wrestling legend Mercedes Martinez.
Gibbs is an incredibly athletic, raw talent who has all the tools to become a major star for AEW. Even though she’s not a big part of the show, remember her name.
Big Swole
Big Swole has made several appearances on AEW Dark and Dynamite since signing with the promotion in December after so many fans practically begged the company to make what was an obvious move.
Wrestling fans have long admired Big Swole and seen her as one of the most talented women’s wrestlers on the independent scene. She has appeared on Raw and in the Mae Young Classic for WWE, but AEW seems to be the best fit for the charismatic 2019 RISE co-wrestler of the year.
Swole has quietly picked up some big wins on Dynamite, too. She’s defeated Leva Bates and Emi Sakura this year on Dynamite and has shared the ring with the likes of Hikaru Shida and Nyla Rose, with the latter defeating her on the Jan. 29 episode of the show.
AEW will keep taking things slowly with Swole, but the former SHINE Tag Team Champion is so talented and so accomplished that when it’s her time to step into the spotlight, she will blow everyone away. Clued-in wrestling fans know exactly what she can do.
