Asuka is one of the six women competing in the WWE Money in the Bank 2020 Women’s Ladder Match, and here are three reasons why she should be the one to obtain the briefcase.

Known as The Empress of Tomorrow, Asuka has been one of the best wrestlers in the company since debuting with NXT in October 2015. The former SmackDown Women’s Champion will be competing at WWE Money in the Bank 2020 in the Women’s Ladder Match as one of the three representatives from Raw, with those three wrestlers standing the best chance of winning.

While Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax would also be sensible opponents for current Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, here are three reasons why Asuka should get the win.

She’s been the MVP

As my colleague Dina Amanuel pointed out in April, Asuka has been the MVP of WWE in the “crowdless era”. Her heel antics, hilarious jokes, and over-the-top gestures have made her even more charismatic without crowds, because she stands out more than anyone else.

Her matches with Kairi Sane against Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross were regular highlights on SmackDown, as the Kabuki Warriors worked both Raw and Friday Night SmackDown regularly in order to keep up the prestige of the Women’s Tag Titles.

But now that they no longer have the belts, Asuka can focus on winning the Raw Women’s Title, which continues to elude her while it is in Becky Lynch’s clutches.

Why wouldn’t WWE want the MVP of the crowdless era to hold the prestigious Money in the Bank briefcase? Asuka would do more for the contract than anyone else in this match.

The story with Becky Lynch isn’t over

Becky Lynch and Asuka began their rivalry at TLC 2018 when Asuka won the title in the show’s main event, as Ronda Rousey costed Lynch her SmackDown Women’s Title – a title that has always been dear to her since she was its first champion.

Then, Asuka and Lynch had an absolute banger at the Royal Rumble. A full year later, they topped that at Royal Rumble 2020 in Houston, with Lynch finally defeating one of her greatest rivals.

Asuka nearly had another chance to beat Lynch, but the debuting Shayna Baszler ruined The Empress’ opportunity, putting her own self on a path to a WrestleMania match with Lynch.

Becky won that bout, and she is now waiting for her next challenger, with her eyes fully focused on this Money in the Bank match.

Asuka is one of the favorites, and the thought of The Empress winning the briefcase and toying with Becky is incredible. Her mind games are already a highlight, but they would be next-level, especially with all the emotions bound to come through in this feud.

The Asuka/Becky story may not be over yet, and even if Asuka doesn’t cash in on her, the story can still play out over the course of months.

Imagine the pop when she finally cashes in

WWE fans have always been in Asuka’s corner, ever since she was in NXT. Even though she was undefeated, she was one of the most beloved wrestlers on the planet, to the point where they tried to turn her heel against an excellent babyface in Ember Moon, but the crowd just wouldn’t turn on her.

Asuka is currently a heel and it works since she’s so good, but fans would go crazy when she finally cashes in the briefcase.

I mean, there’s no guarantee that fans will be around for her cash in, but I think WWE will use as much of the year as possible before finally having a cash-in. Money in the Bank cash-ins are special because of crowd reactions, as any Dolph Ziggler mark can attest.

Fans have been waiting for Asuka to win her second singles title on the WWE “main roster”, as she’s far too good to have won the SmackDown Women’s Title just once in a short reign with no Raw Women’s Title victories to her name.

The WWE Universe will erupt whenever Asuka cashes in the WWE Money in the Bank 2020 briefcase, and the company should keep in mind how memorable her cash-in would be. They have a chance to make things right for a wrestler who has been used to put over others multiple times, namely Charlotte Flair when Asuka was at her own peak.
