WWE: 5 challengers for new Raw Women’s Champion Asuka

Despite coming up short in her last few matches against Liv Morgan, Ruby Riott had an impressive showing on the road to Money in the Bank. Riott took on Asuka in a qualifying match, lasting 13 minutes before falling to the eventual winner and, now, Raw Women’s Champion.

Riott has been looking for a new opportunity since returning to injury, but has instead been haunted and forced to confront her past. If she can change her focus, Riott could be a formidable challenger going up against Asuka and looking to claim the title by any means necessary.

Kairi Sane

There’s no doubt Asuka has become more and more beloved by fans even in this new era, which would imply the most likely challengers are those more loathed by fans. While Kairi Sane and Asuka were heels during part of their reign as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, it’s certainly arguable that Sane is more of a default babyface due to the respect fans had for the reign of The Kabuki Warriors.

One option would be Asuka offering an opportunity to her longtime friend and partner, pushing herself and giving Sane an important chance. However, we could also see a devastating heel turn if Kairi Sane chose to ambush Asuka despite their previous alliance. Whatever the method, Kairi Sane vs. Asuka is money.
