Here’s how the build to Sasha Banks vs. Bayley at WWE SummerSlam 2020 could happen.
Sasha Banks and current SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley have been putting on clinics between the ropes against their opponents, and they are also the best on the mic. These two former NXT superstars are friends right now, but they have been through the friend-enemy-friend cycle on a couple of occasions. They fought in WWE‘s first-ever 30-minute Iron Match at NXT TakeOver: Respect, and the current women’s champion had her hand raised after what was one of the best fights in NXT history.
The two are the current Women’s Tag Team Champions, and they have received challenges from the red and blue brand superstars, but the big question is if this will continue down the line or will it change? This question comes as part of the ongoing rumor that Vince wants these two friends to fight in front of an audience, but WWE SummerSlam 2020 will take place at the Performance Center.
If this highly-anticipated title match occurs without fans at the Performance Center, here’s how Vinnie Mac and the team can bring it to fruition at SummerSlam.
Sasha Banks interferes during Bayley-Asuka match on Raw
It’s a battle of the champions, and while this is not the Night of Champions show, one can rest assured that these will perform to the best of their ability to raise the ratings for the red brand.
It would be ‘Boss Time’ when Sasha Banks would try to interfere in this match and give her friend’s opponent one-up. The interference will be the start of something big.
Friendship Vibes Are In (or up in) The Air
The Women’s Tag Team Champions were on a self-organized tribute during last week’s episode of SmackDown, but what if things change in a week? The loss on RAW would not sit well with the brand’s champion, and she would still try to process it without blaming her ‘best friend.’
The benefit of the doubt is a great virtue, and it has worked wonders not only in the wrestling business but even in other situations. If you don’t believe me, search for Caught in Providence‘s episode(s) where Judge Frank Caprio gives the motorists benefit of doubt.
While the judge does it for good reasons, the same may not fit well with Sasha Banks, who has shown signs of turning on her friend, and the time may be on the horizon. It just may not be the right date to do so because we still have seven episodes of the blue brand before SummerSlam hits our TV screens.
It may be a slow burn for The Legit Boss before she does what she thinks will be ‘Best For Business’ and her. The two are top quality superstars in the company, and anything involving them will be an instant hit amongst the WWE Universe.
The Women’s Gold On The Blue Brand
Sasha Banks has a remarkable career with her journey starting in 2012 with WWE. Over the years, the 4-time RAW Women’s Champion, 1-time NXT Women’s Champion, and 2-time Women’s Tag Team Champion with her current run in progress, The Legit Boss has something missing.
If you guessed it by now, Sasha Banks has never won a SmackDown Women’s Championship, and that is a shocking aspect of her career, which wouldn’t make her feel right about anything and everything around her.
It may be her moment now, and she must pick up a fight with her friend because, as a confrere, she is aware of the positives and the negatives of her friend, and it would make perfect sense if she does it now. The fact that Sasha Banks has never held the Women’s Championship Gold of the blue brand makes it all the more relevant for her to go for the title.
Sasha Banks and Bayley know how to pull off a story and present it when required, and this may be their moment to draw in good ratings for the blue brand because this will be the go-home episode before Extreme Rules comes to our TV screens.
Can you guess what comes next?
Will A New Champion Be Crowned?
The video may be from RAW as would be the emotions heading into this match, but one would have to see how WWE puts it across to the WWE Universe. The fans are back home, and so the ratings decide who is one up over their nemesis. SmackDown didn’t have to face the Monday Night Wars or has the new Wednesday Night Wars to step up against, but despite that, they need to put on a show that is loved by the fans.
A storyline involving Sasha Banks and Bayley will be the perfect way for the company to start making money and improve the ratings. The two have all the qualities to get the fans’ attention, and when they do, it would be a spectacle to witness on Friday Nights.
The two will have a feud that will run through Extreme Rules to SummerSlam, and that will be a win-win month for the WWE and the fans because they would get the best content while WWE will have good ratings. If you are thinking why are we talking about ratings here then let’s remind you that WWE is a sports entertainment company, and ratings play a role in the entertainment industry.
The big question remains: Will we get the entertainment we seek?
