WWE Bragging Rights PPV – Match Ups & Predictions
Here’s the quick match listings for the Bragging Rights PPV:
SmackDown vs. Raw WWE Bragging Rights Tag Team Match
World Heavyweight Champion The Undertaker vs. CM Punk vs. Batista vs. Rey Mysterio (Fatal Four Way Match)
WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. John Cena (One Hour, Anything Goes Iron Man Match)
Intercontinental Champion John Morrison vs. United States Champion The Miz (Non-Title Match)
SmackDown Divas vs. Raw Divas Tag Team Match
Now what I like to do when it comes to PPVs is make some predictions, but I do one thing a little different than the norm. While I do pick who WILL win the match up as decided in the ring, I love to speculate on who SHOULD win the match up based upon story lines and where things could go in the next month. So you’ll see me pick a SHOULD and a WILL for each match up. On to the picks:
SmackDown vs. Raw WWE Bragging Rights Tag Team Match
SHOULD: Team RAW WILL: Team RAW
WWE Creative changed the entire Smackdown team just this week… the week of the PPV… because on paper, it looked terrible compared to RAW’s team with too many young and “unproven” guys. Since the change, this match up looks a little more even. I just figured out it is one pin fall to a finish, which I think sucks, but I figure they don’t want to have a Survivor Series type match the month before Survivor Series. The one pin fall could possibly be the ONLY way Smackdown comes away with a victory in this match up. Put simply the RAW roster looks just too strong and basing it on that, they SHOULD and WILL win this match up.
World Heavyweight Champion The Undertaker vs. CM Punk vs. Batista vs. Rey Mysterio (Fatal Four Way Match)
SHOULD: CM Punk WILL: Batista
As of right now, CM Punk is the only big name, singles heel on Smackdown. That being the case, the baby faces should be chasing him. I’m all for a match up once in awhile between two baby faces, but not when it comes to a title picture. In this match up, you have three baby faces and one heel. This match up SHOULD go to Punk. However, this is WWE we are talking about. There’s been plenty of speculation on the web of who would be good for match up purposes and can WWE continue things until Wrestlemania? Personally, I don’t think you can with the guys on Smackdown, especially if the guy holding the title till then is The Undertaker. So, my thought process is that WWE Creative will push for either Rey Mysterio or Batista to win today, and frankly because it looks more legitimate, I’ll say Batista WILL win and walk away World Heavyweight Champion.
WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. John Cena (One Hour, Anything Goes Iron Man Match)
SHOULD: John Cena WILL: John Cena
If this is the ULTIMATE match up of this feud, the baby face has to win to uphold all that is good when it comes to telling a story, and quite simply, Smackdown has too many top baby faces that if Cena lost and went there it would be overkill! Expect this match up to be going all over the arena, with chairs, tables, and maybe even some backstage antics with the ring truck. While I would love to watch John Cena lose, he won’t! Cena SHOULD and WILL win this match up to become the new WWE Champion.
Intercontinental Champion John Morrison vs. United States Champion The Miz
SHOULD: John Morrison WILL: John Morrison
With all the talk of who’s going to be the Marty Jannetty of these former tag champions, it would be a damn shame if Morrison didn’t win this match up. Morrison is the better athlete. He’s the better performer. He’s the future of the business! The Miz, while he can be entertaining, is just average in the grand scheme of the wrestling world. Hell, I know indy guys that are better than The Miz. Morrison SHOULD and WILL win this match.
SmackDown Divas vs. Raw Divas Tag Team Match
SHOULD: Who cares! WILL: Who cares!
This match up, I’m not even going to make a pick because WWE Divas don’t mean much in the scheme of the shows. The only story line when it comes to the women that’s sort of fresh right now is the trade that went down a few weeks ago, but even that probably won’t come into play because Mickie James isn’t on the Smackdown team. It’s nice to see that they’re actually picking women who can wrestle though… well minus Kelly Kelly (5 out of 6 isn’t bad for WWE). Just enjoy the eye candy… that’s what it’s there for anyways.
I’ll have results of the PPV and my predictions go up on Monday morning!
