Predicting Brock Lesnar’s Road to WrestleMania

Brock Lesnar has returned to the WWE yet again. In two appearances on Raw, he has easily dispatched of Mark Henry, and had a clash with the Big Show. After he made it clear that he had no interest in the Royal Rumble match because he already considers himself #1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, we were awaiting confirmation for who Lesnar would be involved with at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
Thanks to a spoiler from Tuesday night’s SmackDown taping, we now know “The Beast Incarnate” will meet the Big Show at the Royal Rumble.
Lesnar and Show have clashed a few times in the past. They have met three times on pay-per-view in one-on-one matches, though their most famous match came on an episode of SmackDown. Back in June of 2003, on SmackDown, Lesnar and Big Show went to the top rope for Lesnar to hit Big Show with a Superplex, when the two big men came down, the ring collapsed and the match ended in a draw.
These two men have a chance now to create a new moment that their rivalry would be remembered for. The key is for both men to not try and do too much. Big Show hasn’t appeared much in the ring as of late, and Lesnar hasn’t done so since SummerSlam. However, they are both capable of great things, and I think they will let the match come to them. This match is happening so that Lesnar can hit an F-5 on another big man and get a win, and that’s what will happen.
Looking ahead, the next pay-per-view would be the Elimination Chamber. In a video interview with Michael Cole on WWE.com, Triple H mentioned six Superstars who are in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture, Randy Orton, John Cena, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Batista and Lesnar. I believe those six guys will be in the Elimination Chamber match for the title, with Orton getting the win. Lesnar will be taken down in this match by “The Animal” Batista.
I think Lesnar will spend the final six weeks before WrestleMania XXX feuding with Batista. There have been many rumors suggesting that Lesnar will take on The Undertaker at WrestleMania, but I just can’t see this happening. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, two problems have come up while discussing Lesnar vs. ‘Taker. The first is Lesnar’s physical style, which immediately stands out when discussing a match with a man in as rough shape as The Undertaker. Second, for the past few years, Shawn Michaels, Triple H and CM Punk have all planned, and practiced their matches with “The Deadman”, and considering Lesnar’s limited schedule, it would be tough to find the time for them to do that.
I think when Batista returns, he should put Lesnar over at WrestleMania. I think there is plenty of time for Lesnar to put over a young talent, like Big E Langston, but he still has a couple of “money matches” left in him, and Batista is one of those matches. I think Lesnar should go over because Batista will still be riding the wave of his return, he will have no problem with the crowd, Lesnar is hot right now and needs to go over every chance he gets.
I do not envision Lesnar in a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at WrestleMania. I know him and Heyman have talked for two weeks about why Lesnar is the #1 contender, but I don’t think that comes now. I think it could happen at SummerSlam this year, but it doesn’t fit into this WrestleMania.
I would love to hear what you think the WWE will do with Brock Lesnar in the comments section below.
