WWE NXT Review: Big E vs. Bo Dallas
By Mike Smith
Bo Dallas promo/Bo Dallas vs. Big E
Bo cut a promo about NXT being built on “Bo-lieving”. He dubbed himself “Mr. NXT” and said that the crowd was a part of his family, until they chanted “We don’t love you” which Bo ignored.
In a nod to Bo’s title win from over a year ago, Bo removed the turnbuckle padding, but this time, he was thrown into it and bounced back into a Big Ending to end his NXT career. Bo had a huge meltdown after the match and got in an argument with the crowd about who should be leaving, it was excellent.
Tyson Kidd backstage
Kidd said that this is the reason he fought to get back in the ring. He said he will grab his destiny at Takeover. Little segments like this are great character builders.
Sami Zayn and Tyler Breeze w/ Devin Taylor
Zayn was doing an interview with Devin about the #1 Contender’s Match last week, but Breeze interrupted by wandering into the shot. They argued about both of them losing last week, and Zayn challenged Breeze to a match for tonight, but Breeze said he was busy and would meet Zayn at Takeover. Breeze has been taken more seriously recently, and a match with Zayn will go a long way in that effort.
Tamina Snuka vs. Paige
Paige countered a Superfly Splash and then used a small package pin to beat Tamina. Tamina gets protected way too much. It makes sense to protect her because she’s bigger than most Divas, but it’s time to do something with her, or not to.
Camacho vs. Adam Rose
Rose and Camacho fought back-and-forth until Rose went for his finisher, but Camacho countered, escaped and willingly took a countout loss. With Rose on his way to the main roster, he should have one more NXT match at Takeover, and it looks like it will be with Camacho.
Charlotte pre-taped promo/Sasha Banks vs. Natalya
Charlotte said she’s not sure how she feels about the match between Banks and Natalya. She said she’s rooting for Sasha, and wants to see “has-been Nattie” lose. However, she doesn’t want to have to expose Banks’ weaknesses. I can’t possibly do this justice with my words, this was perfect. Nothing could ever make me more sure that Charlotte is Ric Flair’s daughter.
Banks tapped out to Natalya, setting up Natalya vs. Charlotte for the NXT Women’s Championship next week at Takeover. As Natalya celebrated, and Banks recovered, Charlotte stood at ringside, very disappointed in Banks. It’s clear that Banks and Charlotte are heading for a breakup.
Curt Hawkins vs. Adrian Neville/Tyson Kidd and Adrian Neville promo
Hawkins got some offense in before Neville won with the Red Arrow.
Kidd came out after the match and told Neville he didn’t want to cause trouble, but that he wanted to let Neville know that he is winning the title next week. He said that he’s been on Raw, SmackDown, even WrestleMania, and that he’s going to use that experience when he meets Neville. Neville said that he has no plans of being Kidd’s springboard back to the main roster. He said that, as usual, the only person who could bring home gold is Kidd’s wife, Natalya. This was a very solid face-to-face. The NXT Championship match next week should be excellent, and this made me want to see it that much more.
Overall Impression
Really good show. This was really good and it accomplished everything it needed to heading into Takeover next week. Arrival had some really good matches, but after this show, I feel as though Takeover has a very legit chance at matching that show.
