A Look at the Top Matches for NXT Takeover

NXT Takeover will be the second live, two-hour special from NXT on the WWE Network. NXT Arrival was huge for NXT and it really helped them takeoff and become more than just another show. Takeover is where NXT hopes to really, well, takeover.
There have been a few matches announced so far for this show, but for now, we’re just going to take a look at the top three matches. Those matches are: Adrian Neville vs. Tyson Kidd for the NXT Championship, Charlotte vs. Natalya for the vacant NXT Women’s Championship, and Sami Zayn vs. Tyler Breeze to determine the next #1 contender for the NXT Championship.
Let’s break each one of those matches down.
Adrian Neville vs. Tyson Kidd for the NXT Championship
I have been excited for this match for about four weeks, ever since I read the spoilers and found out that Kidd would be the man who would challenge Neville for the title.
Neville might be the only WWE employee who is currently a better high-flyer than Kidd. Both of these men are capable of really great things, so when they get in the ring together, the results should be magic.
It’s tough to imagine Neville losing the title this soon, but it would be a great part of the revival of Kidd’s career. I think that Neville will retain the title, but I would not be shocked to see Kidd pull out the victory.
Charlotte vs. Natalya for the vacant NXT Women’s Champion
After becoming Divas Champion, NXT GM JBL was forced to strip Paige of the NXT Women’s Championship, citing her inability to defend it because of her newfound responsibilities.
Over the past few weeks, a tournament has been held to determine the new champion and it will culminate in the final match at Takeover, when Charlotte and Natalya meet. If it wasn’t enough for you that this match will feature Ric Flair’s daughter against Bret Hart’s niece, then I got good news for you, Flair and Bret will be at ringside for the match.
It makes the most sense for Charlotte to win the title, but something tells me that this match won’t end without us seeing something from Sasha Banks. The question is: will Banks help Charlotte? Or try and ruin her chances at the title? I think Banks helps Charlotte, but there definitely has been something brewing there.
Sami Zayn vs. Tyler Breeze to determine the next #1 contender for the NXT Championship
After getting eliminated at the same time at the end of a #1 contender’s battle royal along with Tyson Kidd, Breeze and Zayn were the losers of a triple threat match which crowned Kidd as the #1 contender for Neville’s title. Now at Takeover, both men get another chance to earn a shot for the title.
Zayn has chased the title for almost a year, but to no avail so far. Breeze is new to the title hunt, but he is a very capable of being champion, and he is very popular with the NXT Universe.
Between his matches with Bo Dallas for the title, his matches with Cesaro, and the triple threat match two weeks ago, Zayn has built a bit of a reputation as not being able to win big matches. I think Zayn squashes that reputation when he pins Breeze at Takeover, and once again puts on the best match of the night.
