Superstars That Could Revive Their Careers At NXT
NXT is one of the hottest shows in professional wrestling at the moment. The developmental roster is filled to the brim with some of the most promising young talent available, and their determination to impress has resulted in a consistent stream of excellent matches. The likes of Sami Zayn, Adrian Neville, Tyler Breeze and Kalisto have produced some fantastic performances in their desire to impress the fans in Florida and progress onto the main roster.

But, the main roster is shark-infested waters. Being viewed has good enough down at Full Sail University is no assurance that success will follow. Whilst the likes of the Shield, Bray Wyatt and Rusev have become critical components of WWE and firmly fixed to the upper mid-card, others have not proven so fortunate. Big E, after an impressive run to become Intercontinental Champion has fallen into obscurity. Few people are seriously Bo-lieving in Bo Dallas at the moment. And Adam Rose’s ‘Exotic Express’ has been permanently derailed before it completely crashes and burns.
Even outside the ranks of people promoted from the breeding ground into the Big Leagues, there are numerous superstars filling spots on the roster that are looking more and more untenable by the day. And, with the WWE Network not attracting as many subscribers as was estimated when it was released, many of those are believed to be fearing for their jobs. Cost-cutting measures have been rife this year, along with one of the biggest culls of talent in recent memory.

A year or so ago, it is likely that Tyson Kidd would have been near the top of the list of those speculated to be leaving the company as an expendable talent. He hadn’t done much since being part of the Hart Dynasty, being rarely featured on RAW or Smackdown and being thrown into a forgettable tag team with Justin Gabriel. However, his career has been resurrected as of late for two primary reasons. One is his turbulent relationship with wife Natalya that is depicted on Total Divas and has framed his current perception on television.
The other has been is time in NXT. Instead of being sent there as enhancement talent from the main shows, Kidd became fully integrated into the roster. He was pushed to main event status, taking on the personality of an arrogant, self-absorbed heel that recognized himself as one of the greatest wrestlers in the world. It wasn’t entirely original, but it suited the Dungeon survivor perfectly. Kidd revived his career among these up-and-coming rookies, as they proved the perfect foil for his in-ring talents.

Lately, Kidd has been much more regularly featured on television, with notable matches against Jack Swagger, R-Truth and most recently defeating former United States Champion Sheamus on RAW. His renewal has been so complete, other lower card superstars have looked to the Yellow Brand for glory. Sin Cara has become on half of the NXT Tag Team Champions as part of the Lucha Dragons, and Titus O’Neil also became a key part of recent episodes in matches against Zayn and Neville.
With these in mind, NXT looks the ideal place for superstars lacking direction to find themselves and return stronger than ever before. So, who else on the WWE roster could look past the threat of release and instead head to the developmental territory to relaunch their career? Here are five of the prime candidates.
