WWE News: Randy Orton’s Babyface Turn Was Necessary
WWE has finally gone through with their plans to turn Randy Orton into a babyface character. As seen on Monday Night Raw, The Authority cut Orton out of the group on Monday and the decision was made so Orton could return as a babyface.
The saying goes in life that sometimes there are necessary evils. That saying is true both in life and in the WWE Universe. For an example of that, look no further than Randy Orton.
There is no question that Orton is at his best when he is a heel character. Orton loves being the bad guy and it is a role he thrives in. Orton realizes that and that is why the superstar has expressed some disappointment about his imminent run as babyface character. But, again, Orton turning face was a necessary evil.

Go back to Monday Night Raw for a moment.
When Orton delivered a RKO “outta nowhere” on Rollins after Rollins and The Authority’s henchmen attacked Dolph Ziggler, the arena erupted. Fast forward to end of the Monday Night Raw. Towards the end of the main event segment, there was a moment when Orton and Triple H were standing face-to-face in the middle of the ring. The cameras were literally shaking due to eruption of the crowd. Those eruptions turned into a full-blown explosion when Orton delivered a punch to the face of Triple H. Of course, the segment ended with Orton being taken out by Seth Rollins.
Orton being “taken out” was only set up to give Orton some time off to begin filming for an upcoming movie.
Orton being written off WWE programming will set up for a surprise return at Survivor Series. During Monday Night Raw, The Authority indicated who would be on their team for the Traditional Survivor Series match. Meanwhile, at this point, Dolph Ziggler is the only known member of Team Cena, along with John Cena.
A likely scenario is that we will learn four of Cena’s five team members before the Survivor Series pay-per view. Either at the go-home edition of Monday Night Raw or at Survivor Series, Cena will announce that he has a surprise team member. The surprise would be Orton coming out and fighting for Team Cena.
Orton fighting for Team Cena and consequently putting an end to The Authority would bring the The Authority storyline full circle. The Authority angle began over a year ago at SummerSlam when Orton, with the help of Triple H, defeated Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship. Now, The Authority angle should end at the hands of Orton at Survivor Series.
Necessary evils, at times, turn out to be blessings in disguise. For Orton and his babyface turn, that could be a blessing for WWE as they look for reactions out of the WWE Universe like the one Orton generated on Monday.
