#3: Royal Rumble Match 1992

The final Rumble Match on this last is the match that made me fall in love with the Royal Rumble.  I was 11 years old watching this event and I still remember it like it was yesterday.  I remember being infuriated when Sid dumped my hero Hulk Hogan over the top rope, and then being even more furious when Ric Flair eliminated Sid to become the new WWF World Heavyweight Champion.  I remember watching my idol, Davey Boy Smith have a breakout performance, entering first and lasting almost 25 minutes.  I remember Roddy Piper brawling wildly around the ring for over 34 minutes and I especially remember when Hogan hit the ring.  The crowd was on fire.

After purchasing the WWE network, this was the second thing I watched (this rumble plays a close second place to Wrestlemania IV).  This time around however, my feelings were much different as I could not take my eyes off of the brilliance that was Ric Flair on this night.  Flair entered third and for the next 62 minutes I watched as he chopped, stomped, kicked, eye-gouged, writhed in pain, begged for leniency, and overall carried a rumble field that not only included the above mentioned stars but a host of others that included Ted DiBiasi, Shawn Michaels, Tito Santana, Greg Valentine, Jake Roberts, Jimmy Snuka, The Undertaker, Randy Savage, and Sgt. Slaughter.  This was the first and only Rumble that was for the WWF Title and Flair showed the WWF universe all the skills that had already made him a superstar outside of the company.  Best single Rumble performance of all time.  Hats off to the Nature Boy.
