Ladder matches used to be a staple of WrestleMania, and their involvement has helped make stars on the grandest stage. Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon set the standard at WrestleMania X on how to incorporate a ladder into an awesome match. Then the tag team division took the bout to a whole new dimension in a pair of TLC contests, featuring Edge & Christian, the Dudley Boyz and The Hardy Boyz. And most recently the Money in the Bank ladder matches were hosted at the event with the near certainty that they witnessed the crowning of a future world champion.

However, the Intercontinental Championship ladder match at the upcoming event is the first time ladders will be brought into WrestleMania since the introduction of the Money in the Bank PPV in 2010. The crowded title scene in which seven men will compete for the belt, this ladder match will be hopeful to capture the essence of the brilliant contests of the past.
