First Time Both IC and US Titles are Defended at WrestleMania

WWE.com

The Intercontinental Championship and United States Championship have been the staple mid-card titles in WWE since 2003 when the latter was reintroduced on SmackDown. However, in all of the WrestleManias that have taken place since that year, there has never been a card that has featured both titles on it. This seems to be a ridiculous situation, as despite the two world championships around during the majority of those years, both should have been defended simultaneously at the event at least once.

This year will finally see both those belts on the line. The Intercontinental Championship will be defended by Bad News Barrett in a multi-man ladder match as previously noted. And as for the United States Championship, Rusev will battle John Cena for the title. So, it will be the a rare sight to see both mid-card championships get some exposure on the biggest stage in after years of being pushed out of the limelight.
