Sting vs. The Undertaker

I bet you haven’t even thought of this dream match. Though a match with the Deadman at WrestleMania was one of the reasons Sting signed with the WWE in the first place. Triple H was not his first choice.

The match sells itself. Two of the darkest entities in professional wrestling square off at the Show of Shows, the build up to the match would be epic and the staring contest prior-to the battle could be one of the most surreal sights in sports entertainment.

Both men have had much success in their 20+ year careers (Undertaker in WWE; Sting in WCW and TNA). Their similarities are uncanny, both cut out lights in the arena, and appear in long dark robes behind their frightened opponent.

Although, doubts of the Undertaker’s recent health streak (pun intended) could rest this dream match in peace. He has been carried to the hospital the past three of the past four years. He walked out of the Bray Wyatt bout okay, however, you could tell he was very uncomfortable throughout the match. But, the Undertaker’s physical erosion was a problem five years ago, yet he has made it to every WrestleMania since then.

While, however, Sting performed very well in his first match in the WWE against Triple H. The former WCW star could handle hard bumps in the ring. He also got slung into the steel steps, and moved well after the fact. Pretty impressive, considering Sting is a youthful, 56-year-old man.

In an interview with Sting after the March 30, 2015 edition of Monday Night Raw, the crowd reacted to Sting’s in-ring future for the WWE, and they’re demands are loud and clear (audio from the in-ring interview from WWE Network).

This match would have been great to see 15 years ago, but even at their physical condition and age in today’s WWE, the match would still generate a massive draw that will captivate audiences young or old.
