NJPW G1 Climax Day Five Review
Tomohiro Ishii and YOSHI-HASHI vs. Karl Anderson and Tama Tonga
Result: Karl Anderson and Tama Tonga defeat Tomohiro Ishii and YOSHI-HASHI via pinfall.
Result: 2.8 out of 5 stars
Anderson began the match against Ishii with a decent brawl until the other two competitors tagged in. HASHI would get a brief edge until Tonga dropkicked him and the match went out of the ring.
Anderson would throw in part of the barricade into the ring. He would tag in and go to work on HASHI with a few stomps until Tonga came back and nearly got a pin.
HASHI worked back with a breaker and got the tag on Ishii, who sent Tonga flying with a suplex and threw Anderson into the turnbuckle. He barreled over Tonga when he tried knocking him down.
Tonga would work his way back with a Samoan drop and tagged in Anderson. He would battle with HASHI, who hit a big dropkick for a near-fall.
Anderson and Tonga would hit a combo move and nearly get the fall. Anderson then went for the Gun Stun but got countered. Ishii barreled over him and nearly got the fall. Anderson finally hit Gun Stun on HASHI for the win.
Rob’s Note: The Bullet Club members dominated most of this match. Not a surprise given this stable overpowers NJPW on a weekly basis. However, this was a solid match from both sides. Not something to go out of your way for, though. Much better things to come.
