Sheamus Interview
Rich Brennan is backstage with Mr. Money in the Bank. They replay Sheamus’s attempted cash-in from RAW. Sheamus cuts off Rich immediately. Sheamus says the WWE Universe demands to be entertained and he can bring that to them. He compares Orton stopping him to a Terminator movie, so Sheamus says he’ll be back and on RAW he will Brogue Kick Orton so much that he’ll cease to exist. He says a brighter future is just a Brogue Kick away.
Non-Title Match: New Day (Xavier Woods & Big E) w/Kofi Kingston vs PrimeTime Players (c)
Result: Young def. Woods by pinfall (Gut-Check)
Rating: 2.75 stars out of 5 stars
They show a quick promo from PTP about the fatal four way match at Summerslam, and Darren Young makes a terrible pun about being like an afro because they are big round here (big round hair, get it?). The match starts and O’Neil is quickly thrown out of the ring where he is kicked by non-legal member Kofi Kingston. New Day grounds O’Neil with stomps and quick tags. New Day is in control going into break.
Big E has Titus in an abdominal stretch as we return to action. Titus is still being worked over but he hits an explosive clothesline coming out of the corner. Hot tags to both Woods and Darren Young, and Young takes control. He hits a backdrop on the apron, and even takes out Kingston who attempts to attack Young. Young tries to hit Woods with the Gut-Check, but Big E grabs Woods and rolls him out of danger.
New Day tries to escape to the back, but Los Matadores and the Lucha Dragons come out to force them to go back to the ring. PTP attack Big E and Kingston from behind, leaving Woods to fend for himself. Woods gets hit with a Gut-Check for the win. After the victory, Lucha Dragons and Los Matadores come into the ring for a stare down of the four teams competing at Summerslam.
Evan’s Notes: It makes me sad to see New Day take more losses, but I hope that’s just balanced booking for New Day to win the titles. The match itself was fun, but the match at Summerslam would benefit from more of a storyline. Sadly it’s probably too late for that.
