Jushin Liger Made His WWE Debut and Won
After a career spanning over 30 years, we finally saw the debut of one of the most revered and respected men in the history of wrestling, Jushin Thunder Liger. He’s won titles and wrestled all across the world, including a stint in WCW during the mid 1990’s but had never appeared in a WWE ring. Liger was one of the few actual legends of the sport who still had yet to appear in the biggest wrestling company in the world.
A man who is instantly recognisable from his costume and mask, this was an encounter that many were looking forward to and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
With what many expected to be a one off appearance it was thought that his opponent, Tyler Breeze, would get the win. That most certainly wasn’t the case.
A match that saw Liger mock the cocky heel shenanigans of Breeze, including laying across the ropes and taking Tyler’s selfie stick to pose for his own pictures, was full of entertainment. Starting with some painful looking submissions, this match was the perfect way to introduce Liger to the WWE fans. He got the win after a running Liger bomb.
It’s also been announced that he’ll be back in NXT in the future. This will be a great thing for fans to see. There’s so many men he could face on the NXT roster, the likes of Breeze again, Samoa Joe, Apollo Crews and Hideo Itami would all bring the house down against the legendary Japanese superstar.
