Tag Team Segment
New Day comes out to stat SmackDown, holding signs about giving tables a chance and how broken wood is no good. There is a bubble wrapped table in the corner that they are trying to protect. Woods says a table is a terrible thing to waste, and Kofi calls tables the backbone of human achievement. They say that the most important moments in history like the first Thanksgiving and the declaration of independence are possible due to tables. Big E pleads for people to stand up and join them in the Save The Tables movement. They are interrupted right on cue by Bubba Ray and D-Von.
D-Von rolls footage of the Dudleyz putting Xavier Woods through the table with a 3D. The Dudleyz make their way down to the ring and New Day protects their table. Bubba Ray says they will become 10-time tag team champions, but the Prime Time Players interrupt. Titus says the Dudleyz have to earn their keep and that the PTP have a rematch for the tag team titles, so the Dudleyz have to go to the back of the line. Bubba Ray reminds the PTP who they are, and Titus O’Neill says he has two tickets back to Dudleyville for the Dudleyz and our first match starts with New Day on commentary.
Dudley Boyz vs. Prime Time Players
Result: Dudley Boyz defeats PTP via pinfall.
Rating: 2.6 out of 5 stars
D-Von and Darren Young start the match and after trading blows the match devolves into a shouting match as we go to break.
Back from the break and Young manages to get in some good right hands to Bubba Ray. The Dudleyz manage to isolate Darren Young and Bubba Ray works him over with blows. Young gets a hot tag to a fresh Titus O’Neil who takes out both Dudley Boyz. Titus gets stunned with an elbow then takes a 3D and the Dudleyz get the win.
Right after the match New Day run away with their bubble wrapped table, and as the Dudleyz stare them down Kofi runs into the ring to slap D-Von in the back of the head. The New Day laughs all the way to the back to end the match and segment.
Evan’s Note: The tag team division is extremely exciting now. These three teams battling over the tag team titles is an exciting dynamic, with other teams like Lucha Dragons, Ambrose & Reigns, and the Wyatt Family waiting in the wings, I’m sure the tag division is trending upwards in the WWE.
Miz TV with Lana & Dolph Ziggler is announced for later, and the next match is announced to be a version of a SummerSlam rematch: Neville vs Stardust.
