30 Greatest Gimmick Match Types in WWE History
- Elimination Chamber
The number two match on our list is the match of the new generation of WWE. This structure outdid every other structure that the WWE had put in front of our eyes before. To this day it is used, for a while as it’s own gimmick PPV but now used as a WWE Network promotion tool.
If the number one match is the match of the Attitude Era, the Elimination Chamber is the match of the Ruthless Aggression Era. Created by Triple H, the chamber was a structure that out did the Hell in a Cell and the Steel Cage, something that nobody thought could be done. It was a rather unique concept , combining elements from the Hell in a Cell Match, Royal Rumble Match, Survivor Series Match and WCW’s WarGame matches into an environment that the WWE had never seen before.
Two miles of chain is used to create this structure. In history, there have been 19 chamber matches since the first one in 2002. And it was that first one, that set the stage for what is now over a decade of destruction, violence and career changing moments. Even in this new era of WWE, the Elimination Chamber is still a violent, career defining structure and match type that captivates the WWE Universe.
