Samoa Joe and Finn Balor vs. Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder
This match is seen by many people as a massive miss match, with the young tag team against two of the best the company has on their roster. There’s a massive incentive to win this match, the finals of the competition and the chance to be the men who are named the winners of The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. There’s also a massive elephant in the room in the shape of an impending turn for one of the Balor/Joe team to head toward a feud for the NXT Title in the coming months.
Dawson and Wilder are one of the best young tag teams in NXT, they have all the ability to one day be the WWE Tag Team Champions let alone hold the NXT Tag Belts. Known as The Mechanics they are some of the best technical wrestlers that NXT has produced.
There are two ways you could send the entire tournament depending on who you want to come out of it as the stars. You could have the two young teams face each other so have Dawson and Wilder win to go on and face Gable and Jordan, or you let your established guys win both semi finals and have Balor/Joe face Corbin/Rhyno. Both those matches make sense and would see teams facing each other that already have history together, we even saw The Mechanics taunting Jordan and Gable on this weeks NXT tv.
What do i think will happen?
Well i think Balor will have the beating of one of the opponents but then Joe will turn his back on him, leading to Dawson and Wilder getting the double team on the NXT Champion and eventually the win. This perfectly sets up the following few months of the former partners feuding then heading to a record-breaking title match at NXT London.
