WWE Intercontinental Championship 2-out-of-3 Falls Match
Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Cesaro

Result: Dolph Ziggler defeated Cesaro via pinfall and 2-0 to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

Rating: 3.8 out of 5 stars

What happened?

This signaled the end of Ziggler and Cesaro’s mini-feud for the IC title. Ziggler surprisingly defeated the Swiss Superman handily, 2-0 in a 2-out-of-3 falls match where the bout always goes to the 3rd fall. Many thought Cesaro would get a decent look in this match since he’s one of WWE’s best ring workers, but that wasn’t the case.

Did this match have any implications after the PPV?

Ziggler would go onto lose the IC title to Luke Harper a few weeks later an episode of Raw, ending his second of three title reigns in 2014. The Show-Off would go onto steal the show at WWE Survivor Series, taking out the last three members of Team Authority to put them out of power for a month. It’a shame the momentum Ziggler had went nowhere, though.

Cesaro’s push would stall yet again. However, he went onto form a tag team with Tyson Kidd and win the WWE Tag Team Championship, so everything wasn’t bad for the former ROH star.
