WWE Survivor Series 2015: Who Should Be in WWE Championship Tournament
By Jay Sichler
With Survivor Series guaranteeing a new champion who should be involved in the championship tournament?
News broke yesterday that Seth Rollins will now be out of action for 6-9 months with a torn ACL and MCL. The injury now cancels a main event fans were waiting since WrestleMania to see (Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns). Needing a new champion with WrestleMania season just months away, WWE will now be having a tournament at Survivor Series to dub a new champion.
No news has been released yet stating how big the tournament will be, and which superstars will be involved in the tournament. Most likely WWE will do a standard eight man single elimination tournament to declare its next champion. With John Cena on personal leave and Randy Orton on the shelf for the next four months, WWE can use this tournament to help elevate and develop a new batch of stars. Despite Rollins going down being a huge blow for the company, WWE can use this tournament to help create a new batch of stars, something the company has struggled to do since the Attitude Era concluded.

Down below are the names of eight superstars that should be in the tournament at Survivor Series.
Roman Reigns
The current number one contender is certainly a no brainer to be involved in the tournament. With his planed main event now pulled because of Rollins injury, Reigns will have his chance to win his first championship in the tournament. Predicted as the odds on favorite to win the whole thing, I can’t see the former enforcer of The Shield doing anything less than an appearance in the tournament finals, at Survivor Series.
Dean Ambrose
The Lunatic Fringe has come close a few times this year to winning the WWE Championship. After helping his best friend (Roman Reigns) rid himself of the Wyatt Family, Ambrose will now set his sights on a WWE Championship. Ambrose in my opinion will make it to the semi finals before being bumped out. The tournament at Survivor Series, can help solidify Ambrose as a new top star in the company, depending on how he performs.
Alberto Del Rio
At the moment Del Rio is arguably the holder of the highest ranked champion in the company (Thanks to John Cena reinventing the United States Championship), with the WWE Championship now vacant. WWE brought Del Rio specifically back to help beef up the main event portion of the roster. The current United States will make it to the second round of the tournament at Survivor Series.
Cesaro
The Cesaro Section will be glad to see that I have their guy in the tournament at Survivor Series. Cesaro has been fantastic matches since his gem with John Cena back over the Summer. For his match quality he will be awarded with one of the eight spots in the Tournament. Though I don’t have him winning his opening contest, he has a chance to finally show the higher-ups that he belongs in the main event picture.
Ryback
The former Intercontinental Champion can really help his career by having a good performance at Survivor Series. With Cena and Orton both out, Ryback can start to fight his case that he should be a top babyface in the company. While I believe Ryback won’t make it out of the first round, he can use this opportunity and the next few months to prove he should be a regular main eventer going forward.
Dolph Ziggler
The Show-off, Dolph Ziggler possibly had his career defining moment at last years Survivor Series. After coming back 3-1 and defeating the Authority (Thanks to Sting) it seemed like Ziggler was finally going to be pushed into a main eventer. However just like the story of his career, his push was once again halted. Just like in Ryback’s case, Ziggler can use the next few months to prove he deserves to be a top guy. He won’t make it out of the first round most likely, but can strengthen his case to be a consistent main eventer if he has a great match.
Kevin Owens
The current Intercontinental Champion should definitely be in the Survivor Series tournament. After having multiple 5 star matches with John Cena over the summer, Kevin Owens showed the world he could be the next big star in WWE. Being the person many believe will resurrect the Intercontinental Championship, Owens can help solidify his case as the next big star with a strong showing at Survivor Series. The IC Champion will make it to the second round and will show that a WWE Championship reign is not too far down the road.
Sheamus
The fate of who walks out of Survivor Series with the WWE Championship could possibly be influenced on Mr. Money in the Bank. Despite winning the briefcase back in July, Sheamus has been relatively quiet. After ending his 400th feud with Randy Orton at the end of the Summer, Sheamus has slowly been teasing a cash in. Sheamus got close to cashing in at Night of Champions before Kane spoiled his opportunity. I could easily see Sheamus disqualifying himself in the first round, then cashing in on the tournament winner who just went through three grueling matches in one night. So despite not making it out of the first round, Sheamus may be the number one choice to leave Survivor Series as WWE Champion.
