WWE Survivor Series: Ranking the 10 Greatest Matches

8) Bret Hart vs. Diesel for WWE Championship (1995)
There’s nothing like a “no disqualification” match with one of the best big men in WWE at the time in Diesel against the very best technical wrestler of his, or for any, generation. It showed the main event skills that both had as Diesel was trying to establish himself as a world champion after defeating Bob Backlund in the record eight-second title match.
The reason the match was no disqualification was because their previous encounter earlier that year ended because of interference from multiple superstars including Backlund, Owen Hart and Shawn Michaels. It was a great choice where it was physical where both men used different parts of the ring against each other, including Diesel’s leg hitting the ring post and Hart being thrown into the steel steps.
While Diesel was showing he belonged in the main event picture, Hart was continuing to show that he was a resilient wrestler that was not going to let the obvious size difference prevent him from mounting different types of offense. There wouldn’t be any issues from the other superstars and they were left to battle for the world championship.
Consider the ending a surprise with Hart getting the roll-up victory in the end out of nowhere to give Hart the pinfall victory to reclaim the WWE Championship. At the end, Diesel went nuts by power-bombing Hart anyway a couple of times while also attacking multiple officials who tried to stop him. He would pose with the belt over Hart before leaving the ring obviously upset with the result.
