Sheamus(c) vs. Roman Reigns

Result: Sheamus defeated Roman Reigns

Rating: 3.6 out of 5.0 stars

Reigns got off to a hot start with a rough right hand to Sheamus’ face. Sheamus recovered and got some good offense in before Reigns regained control.

The action spilled outside the ring with Reigns throwing Sheamus into the timekeeper’s area. Sheamus came barreling out, though, and knocked down Reigns. Reigns was once again quick to recover and took out Sheamus with a clothesline.

Reigns grabbed a ladder and bridged it between the ring and the announce table. While he was doing so, Sheamus threw a chair at Reigns’ back and followed up with another chair shot to the back. Sheamus rolled Reigns back into the ring and pushed in a table after him.

In the ring, Sheamus connected with a tilt-a-whirl slam. He rested a table against the ropes and tried to throw Sheamus into it, but Reigns reversed and clotheslined Sheamus out of the ring, falling alongside him.

Reigns threw Sheamus into some of the ring props on the ramp, solidifying control of the match.

He unleashed some chair shots before dragging Sheamus back toward the ring. Reigns tried to set up a powerbomb on the ramp, but Sheamus reversed and dropped Reigns through a table. Sheamus then suplexed Reigns through another table.

Sheamus staggered to the ring and set up another ladder inside. He started to climb toward the belt, but Reigns stopped him. The two went back outside the ring, and Sheamus threw a ladder at Reigns, knocking him out. Sheamus slammed Reigns’ head into the steel steps; however, Reigns was quick to recover and threw Sheamus into the stairs as well.

Reigns went for a Drive-by, but Sheamus reversed with a clothesline. Sheamus picked up Reigns like he was looking for White Noise, walked up the steel steps and then drove Reigns through a table below.

Sheamus pulled himself back in the ring with Reigns crawling after him. Upset, Sheamus beat on Reigns some more, dropping a ladder across his back. Sheamus hoisted Reigns on his shoulders, but Reigns reversed, managing to powerbomb Sheamus onto a ladder.

Both men struggled to get to their feet. Reigns reversed an Irish whip and hit a jumping clothesline, knocking Sheamus out of the ring again. Reigns went after him and hit another jumping clothesline/modified Superman Punch, this time off the steel steps and while holding a chair.

They went back into the ring and Reigns signaled for the Superman Punch. Sheamus reversed into an Irish Curse backbreaker, though.

Exhausted, both men tried to stand, with Sheamus getting up first. He wrapped Reigns in the ropes and went for the Ten Beats of the Bodhrán. Sheamus connected a few shots before Reigns reversed, put Sheamus on his shoulder, and then two crashed through to the bridged ladder outside the ring.

Sheamus lay motionless as Reigns eventually got up and rolled into the ring. Reigns set up a ladder and started to climb, but Sheamus managed to get in the ring and pull Reigns off. Sheamus then had his turn to climb for the belt, but Reigns stopped him as well.

Now Reigns began another climb and got interrupted by a club to the back from Sheamus. Sheamus pulled Reigns off for a a powerbomb, but Reigns jumped off and connected with a Superman Punch.

Reigns ascended the ladder, yet he was too slow, and Sheamus was able to knock the ladder over. Sheamus set the ladder up again and started to climb. He got his hand on the belt, but Reigns jumped up and hit a Superman Punch, sending Sheamus down and through a table.

With victory in sight, Reigns climbed the ladder, but out of nowhere, Del Rio and Rusev came down to the ring and attacked Reigns. Rusev worked on Reigns outside the ring, locking in the Accolade, while Del Rio pulled Sheamus up and guided him to the ladder.

Reigns fought out of the Accolade; then when Del Rio tried to slow him down, Reigns connected with a Superman Punch. Sheamus was at the top of the ladder, but Reigns ran in and pulled him down. Sheamus quickly responded with a Brogue Kick and again set off to climb the ladder.

Reigns managed to climb back into the ring and get to the ladder, but by that time it was too late. Sheamus pulled down the belt and got the win.

Del Rio and Rusev hoisted Sheamus on their shoulders to celebrate, but then an angry Reigns came into the ring and speared all of them.

He grabbed a chair and attacked all three men. The Authority came out with a band of referees, ordering Reigns to stop. Reigns refused, though, and continued the assault on Sheamus.

Triple H got on the ring apron, trying to calm Reigns down. Reigns put the chair down as referees tended to Sheamus. Triple H got in the ring to help, as well, and then Triple H chastised Reigns, asking what was the matter with him.

Reigns didn’t take too kindly to it and hit Triple H with a Superman Punch. Reigns then hit the Game with multiple chair shots before taking him outside the ring.

Reigns pulled the monitors off the commentary table and continued beating on Triple H as Stephanie begged him to stop. Reigns kept going, though, and powerbombed Triple H on the table, which didn’t break. Reigns then dove off the other table and landed a flying elbow on Triple H, putting him through the table.

Reigns started walking up the ramp, but looking over his shoulder, he noticed that Triple H was on his feet and being helped away from ringside. Reigns ran back down and speared Triple H.

The show went off the air as Roman walked away while Triple H lay motionless on the ground and Stephanie swore that Roman was going to pay for this.

Eugene’s note: The match itself was pretty good, but makes me wonder how engaging Sheamus and Reigns could’ve been without all the weapons at their disposal. The aftermath made it seem like Reigns was going to fall out of the title picture for a bit and instead feud with Triple H.
