NXT TakeOver: Dallas Results: Finn Balor vs. Samoa Joe Video Highlights
By Bryan Heaton
Samoa Joe got a second shot at winning the NXT Championship from Finn Balor at NXT TakeOver: Dallas. Was he successful this time?
After Samoa Joe and NXT Champion Finn Balor won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic last fall, Joe requested a championship match. Balor wanted to say yes, but General Manager William Regal decided to make him earn the shot. When he didn’t, Joe snapped and attacked Balor, forcing Regal to give him a championship match against Balor at NXT TakeOver: London.
Joe came up short in London, but eventually – after a series of matches with controversial or unclear endings – he was named number one contender yet again. The past several weeks, Joe has been trying to send a message to Balor by attacking people and choking them out. Balor responded by attacking Joe, leading to an all-out brawl across the Full Sail arena to end the last show before NXT TakeOver: Dallas.

The Demon made his return to NXT, complete with chainsaw this time.

Very early on, Balor hit a beautiful tope con hilo on a busted-open Joe while the referee tried to check on the wound.
Not letting a little cut around his eye bother him (well, a large cut around his eye), Joe picked up Balor like a rag doll and threw him into the crowd.
Throughout the match the medical staff tried to attend to Joe’s wound, upsetting both Joe and the crowd.
Balor connected with a dropkick through the ropes, and followed it up with a soccer-style kick from the apron.
Balor hit a dropkick in the corner to set Joe up for the Coupe de Grace, but Joe recovered in time to knock him down and hit a Muscle Buster. Somehow Balor managed to kick out, stunning Joe.
Joe continued to dish out punishment to Balor, but the champion countered with a Pele Kick.
Another dropkick in the corner led to Balor connecting with the Coup de Grace this time.
Rather than go for the pin, Balor picked Joe up, looking to hit his newly-renamed finisher 1916 (the former Bloody Sunday). Joe was quick to recover and reversed the move into a Coquina Clutch. As The Demon fought to escape, he made his way to the corner, and used the turnbuckle for leverage to reverse the clutch into a pinfall for the victory.

Somehow – despite the multiple stoppages by the medical staff that messed with the flow of the match – Balor and Joe were able to follow both Nakamura vs. Zayn and Bayley vs. Asuka. It was a great main event to close out a great TakeOver event.
