3. CM Punk vs Daniel Bryan – Money In The Bank 2012

Simply put, these two guys are two of the best technical wrestlers to ever step foot in a WWE ring.  So no matter what the forum, the stipulation, or the circumstance, when working together it was always pure magic.  And that was clearly on display on this night in their no disqualification match for the WWE Heavyweight Title.  Aside from the some of the unnecessary antics of AJ Lee who was serving as special guest referee, these two stole the show in a card that needed a classic match in the worst way.  Both MITB matches were decent at best that night but Punk and Bryan saved the pay-per-view which was nothing new for either man.

The pair told an intricate story in the ring.  As two mat technicians pitted together in a no DQ match, the pair were both apprehensive at first to break the rules.  They almost looked uncomfortable with it.  But at about the halfway point of this 28-minute affair, the switch flipped.  Unable to figure each other out through wrestling means, they turned to violence, unleashing a Singapore Cane, a chair, and a table.  The latter of the three weapons CM Punk used to pick up the victory.

Sadly the feud ended on this night and was never rekindled.   It’s a shame that a longer program wasn’t designed for these two and put into the main event scene.  That opportunity will never again be possible.
