For the first time ever, the former members of The Shield will battle in a Triple Threat match at WWE Battleground! Who rose above to leave with the WWE title?

This match really doesn’t need much hype, it’s Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns going against each other for the WWE title, what wrestling fan doesn’t want to see that? Even though the timing could have been better with it being on a bigger PPV and actually involving Reigns (who’s been suspended for failing WWE’s Wellness Test), Ambrose and Rollins have done their best to keep interest high for this match.

With the WWE Draft just taking place this match will have huge implications as to where the WWE title will end up. If Dean can retain, it heads to SmackDown, if Seth or Roman can win, over to Raw the title goes. How did the match go? Let’s not waste anymore time and find out!

Rollins out first to some boos, followed by Reigns who gets booed even harder, and finally out comes the WWE Champion Dean Ambrose, who receives a solid pop from the crowd. All three men waste no time going after each other, it doesn’t appear Ambrose and Reigns will work together very much.

Reigns going right back to his old bag of tricks with a Superman Punch to an air-born Rollins, laying him out completely.

Ambrose and Rollins momentarily work together to take out Reigns by putting him through a table on the outside.

Rollins immediately grabs a chair and whacks Ambrose in the back and then hits Reigns for good measure. The crowd is still heavily booing Reigns, while Rollins continues to get mixed reactions.

Some great action between all three wrestlers, just watch as they take each other out one at a time.

The big finish came when Reigns took out Rollins via a spear, Ambrose hopped in and landed Dirty Deeds on Reigns to get the 1-2-3!

A great match (MOTN, depending on your preference between this and Zayn/Owens) between these three that didn’t include any outside interference and had a surprisingly good ending. It seemed highly probably that the title was going to Raw or there would at least be a controversial finish, instead Ambrose got the clean win to bring the WWE title to SmackDown. A fantastic match to close out a very solid PPV!
