James Ellsworth: A New Legend Born in WWE
By Dean Siemon
A new legend was born on WWE Raw this past Monday night, and his name is James Ellsworth.
People have been talking on social media about one of the most impressive debuts on the WWE main roster in years. A man with looks to kill, incredible in-ring presence and a memorable catchphrase.
No, we’re not talking about Finn Balor and his two wins that booked him into a main event match with Seth Rollins at SummerSlam. Instead, we are highlighting the birth of a new star by the name of James Ellsworth. Little was known about him, but his lack of chin and his inspiring courage to go into a match against the likes of Braun Strowman led fans to post about him online.

Before breaking down his memorable debut match, let’s take a look at his professional wrestling career that led him to being a part of Monday’s historic episode of Raw. Hailing from Glen Burnie, Maryland, Ellsworth has made quite a name for himself on the independent wrestling circuit and even acts as the owner and promoter for his own company – Adrenaline Championship Wrestling.
But it seems Ellsworth was not satisfied and was ready to take the next step towards becoming a WWE superstar. He admitted on live television that he was not expecting that he would face off with the former Wyatt Family member. It was certainly a tall task for any mortal man to face off against the former powerlifter who could easily replace Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson as the Mountain on Game of Thrones.
It was during Strowman’s entrance where Ellsworth showed how brave he was as he stood in the ring with Raw announcer Byron Saxton in the ring with him. “Any man with two hands stands a fighting chance,” he said only moments before the bell rung.
And Ellsworth would use those hands as he went straight up to Strowman to deliver a few strikes. Sure, it was the only offense in the one-minute match that he had, it was the effort and the attitude that resonated throughout the WWE Universe. Ellsworth certainly gave it everything he had, er, could, in a match with someone who looked to be twice his size.
While Ellsworth would take the defeat to Strowman, the WWE debut certainly brought the Maryland wrestling star quite the attention on Twitter. It also seems that the match on Raw led to some future opportunities.
There’s no denying that the legend of James Ellsworth was the talk of Raw and is likely destined for great things. He has the charisma that many WWE superstars lack, and a one-of-a-kind look that is hard to match. Trust me, I have tried and I can only tuck my chin into my neck so much. Who knows what the future has in store for Ellsworth, but he currently reminds me of a young Colin Delaney who captures the hearts of wrestling fans during his run on the ECW brand back between 2007 and 2008.

This could be the start of a legendary tale, especially if the WWE can secure both James Ellsworth and another newly debuted star in Sonny Boy to contracts. Look out, New Day, because your championship reigns may soon come to an end.
