WWE Superstars Respond to Conor McGregor

WWE superstars and legends didn’t take too kindly to Conor McGregor’s recent comments.

Conor McGregor has been linked to WWE for some time now. The arrogant fighter with the big personality has long been pegged as a perfect candidate to be a WWE superstar in the future, and those rumors started flying even faster when McGregor announced his retirement on Twitter a few months ago, only to go back on it just a few days later.

But if McGregor does have a WWE career in his future, he certainly isn’t taking the right steps to secure it. He bashed the company during a conference call in which he went on an expletive-laced rant about WWE superstars being… well, just read it for yourself, courtesy of mmafighting.com:

"“For the most part, those WWE guys are p*ssies, to be honest. They’re messed up p*ssies, if you ask me. Fair play to Brock [Lesnar], he got in and fought, but at the end of the day he was juiced up to the f*cking eye balls, so how can I respect that?"

He later went back on the comments a bit, clarifying that he meant no disrespect, but that his point still stands.

As you could imagine, these comments warranted a response from various WWE superstars and legends. Here are some of the best responses thus far.

Despite the grammar flub, Reigns has a point. McGregor weighs about 170 lbs while Reigns comes in at a stocky 265. He could probably bench McGregor’s body weight with his pinky while using the other four fingers to type more grammatically incorrect tweets.

Another fair dig at McGregor’s weight. Hey Conor, the Cruiserweight division is being revived on Raw if you haven’t heard. Maybe if you stop being a jackwagon they’ll let you on board.

As I mentioned above, McGregor’s personality is a big reason why people think he’d be a great fit in WWE, and Ric Flair isn’t wrong in saying he basically copied the Nature Boy’s entire shtick. You would think that would warrant a little more respect.

Another response from Flair, and this one brings up something that people don’t often think about. Despite the pre-determined, theatrical nature of WWE, many of the superstars have some kind of combat or amateur wrestling background. They’re not just guys in tights throwing fake punches. A lot of the current WWE roster could put up a much better fight than people give them credit for.

Great marketing strategy, Kofi. Any opportunity to shill the Booty O’s has to be taken. Can you believe this is actually a real cereal now? Anyway, moving on.

Had to save the best for last. While UFC is obviously a legit combat sport, WWE almost certainly takes more of a toll on the performer’s bodies than UFC does. Wrestling several times a week year-round is no easy task, and although McGregor and the rest of the UFC are actually trying to hurt each other, they only have to do so a few times a year. That makes it even more absurd that he would criticize WWE superstars by calling them… let’s just say weak.

So take that, McGaiver. Maybe this backlash will make him think twice before coming after WWE again.
