WWE SummerSlam 2016: Early Betting Odds
With SummerSlam nearing, a look at the early betting odds for every match on the show.
WWE SummerSlam will take place on Sunday, August 21 and is considered one of the company’s top events of the year. Marquee names are featured in the main matches. Multiple titles will be put on the line as well.
Seth Rollins will battle with Finn Balor to determine the first WWE Universal Champion. This match had been set on the first episode of Raw after the WWE Draft. They have feuded for weeks, and everything will come to a head at SummerSlam.
The other top title match will see Dean Ambrose defend the WWE World Championship against Dolph Ziggler. The Showoff won this opportunity after defeating five other Superstars in a six-pack challenge. He will look to win the world title for the first time since 2013.
These matches, among others, will be focal points of the show that will see 10 total bouts take place.
Before fans see SummerSlam go live, they are able to check out the betting odds. While the following aren’t final for Sunday, Bovada published these odds on Wednesday for every match.

WWE World Championship Match
- Dean Ambrose, -700 (1/7)
- Dolph Ziggler, +400 (4/1)
Ambrose is the heavy favorite to retain the world championship. While still early, this could mean that Ziggler’s attempt to reinvigorate himself may come to an end.
WWE Universal Championship Match
- Seth Rollins, +120 (6/5)
- Finn Balor, -160 (5/8)
Balor would get a huge opportunity by winning the first Universal Championship match. Plans could be big for the former NJPW star.
Singles Match
- Brock Lesnar, -350 (2/7)
- Randy Orton, +225 (9/4)
Coming off his UFC 200 win, should it be a surprise that Lesnar is the favorite?
Singles Match
- John Cena, +200 (2/1)
- AJ Styles, -300 (1/3)
Styles getting the win at SummerSlam would put him at 2-0 in singles matches against Cena. This is despite the six-man tag match from Battleground.
WWE United States Championship Match
- Roman Reigns, +200 (2/1)
- Rusev, -300 (1/3)
Rusev may hand Reigns his third consecutive title match loss at SummerSlam. Where would The Big Dog go next?
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
- Apollo Crews, -200 (1/2)
- The Miz, +150 (3/2)
This could be the first title change at SummerSlam, excluding the Universal Championship, which is vacant.
WWE Women’s Championship Match
- Sasha Banks, -1200 (1/12)
- Charlotte, +600 (6/1)
Sasha is a heavy favorite for this match. After winning the Women’s Championship on Raw, it doesn’t seem that there’s a chance of her dropping the belt, for now.
WWE Tag Team Championship Match
- The New Day, +175 (7/4)
- Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, -250 (2/5)
This would be the second title change of SummerSlam. New Day’s reign of nearly one year would be over at the place where they won the belts.
Singles Match
- Sheamus, -140 (5/7)
- Cesaro, Even (1/1)
This is the first match of the Best-of-Seven series between Sheamus and Cesaro.
Tag Team Match
- Enzo Amore & Big Cass, -600 (1/6)
- Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens, +400 (4/1)
The more cohesive team would walk out the winners here. What would that mean for Jericho and Owens after the show?
