A look at the results and highlights of Asuka vs Bayley for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II.

The rematch between Asuka and Bayley has certainly been one to look forward to.  There was so much pressure on Bayley coming in because this has been her comeback tour.  The disappointment has been weighing on her and her return built a lot of momentum.  She has made history before at this live special and looks to do it again at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II.

Asuka has been a dominant champion but because of the pedigree of Bayley, this makes for an instant classic.  Just as before, their styles are completely different.  The history between the two has created a rivalry that continues to culminate tonight.

Asuka came into the ring with all the confidence tonight.  She seemed to have another level of poise with a smile.

Bayley has turned on her mean streak as this feud with Asuka has developed.  She was over zealous and Asuka combated with vicious strikes.

Asuka seemed to have Bayley’s number in this match.  There was a different side of Asuka shown like she’s becoming more comfortable as champion.  Bayley found her second wind gain control of the match and she tried to not let Asuka by in it.

The match would become more back and forth with both women seizing their opportunities.  Asuka would even pay tribute to Angle and Shamrock with the ankle lock as she showed her versitility.

This was a key point because Bayley started to reverse Asuka’s signature maneuvers.  Bayley showed great wrestling IQ along with attitude when she countered Asuka’s best shots.  The moment of truth arrived as Asuka tried to put Bayley as she did before with the Asuka lock.

A match filled with magnificent storytelling as Bayley would escaping the Asuka lock.  She tried to put Asuka away with the Bayley to belly thinking that she had regained her championship.  The attitude of Bayley crept in one more time but Asuka would end it with her patient roundkick.

It was an emotional scene at the end of the match as the fans are unsure if it was Bayley’s last time in NXT.  She left without the championship but to a standing ovation and the respect of Asuka.
