WWE Raw Preview: SummerSlam Fallout

What’s Next for Rusev and Roman Reigns?
There were several strange things about this match that never was. WWE is no stranger to ordering their matches in a weird way on the card, but this was especially odd. The United States title match was scheduled to occur after both Raw and SmackDown’s world title matches. Making the U.S. title seem important is one thing, but putting it after the matches for each brand’s clear top title is a baffling decision, to say the least.
To make matters worse, not only was it made to seem more important than the world title matches, but it didn’t even happen! Having a no-contest right before the main event makes no sense whatsoever, even if it does set up a match between Reigns and Rusev either on Raw or at Clash of Champions. That kind of non-finish would have been more passable earlier in the night since it was fairly entertaining, but since it was saved for that late in the show, it felt like something much bigger should have happened.
As for tonight, title rematches on the Raw after a pay-per-view aren’t uncommon, so maybe that’s in the cards. Either way, we’ll get some other sort of next chapter in Reigns vs Rusev. Tonight will undoubtedly build on Reigns’ brutal SummerSlam beatdown in some way, the only question is how.
