WWE Backlash 2016 Results: Heath Slater and Rhyno vs. The Usos Video Highlights

With SmackDown’s new tag team titles up for grabs, which duo emerged victoriously at WWE Backlash 2016?

This was certainly one of the most interesting matches of Backlash. Rhyno and Heath Slater took on The Usos in the final round of SmackDown’s tag team title tournament. The Usos earned their place in the match after they defeated The Hype Bros earlier in the night.

Prior to the start of the match, Slater received loud cheers from the fans as he walked down the ramp. Rhyno and Slater then took control of the match early on. The duo showed off some unique offense and got off to a great start.

The Usos rallied back a few moments later, after they teamed up on the outside of the ring to suplex Slater into the electronic ring post. The duo continued to work on Slater’s back throughout the rest of the match. They threw him into the turnbuckles constantly and prevented him from making the tag to Rhyno.

It seemed like Slater would never get to tag in Rhyno. The Usos did not give Slater any chance to get near the ropes. The duo actually work really well as heels and it was great seeing them talk trash to Slater while they beat him up.

Despite the constant assault from the Usos, Slater was able to catch a break after he collided with Jey Uso in mid-air. The collision gave Slater the opportunity to get up and make the tag to Rhino. This is where the momentum in the match began to shift. Rhyno quickly made work of both the Usos.

Just when it seemed like Slater and Rhyno had control of the match, the Usos teamed up on Rhyno and forced him to tag Slater back into the match. Despite the beating he received earlier, Slater took down both Usos on his own and nearly picked up the win.

Jimmy Uso then attacked Slater from behind and hit him with a DDT to set up his finishing move. While Uso was distracted, Rhyno came back into the ring and speared him with the Gore.

Although Rhyno had the match won, he could not pin Uso because he was not the legal man. So Slater, crawled over and put his arm over Uso to pick up the pin fall victory and win the titles. Heath Slater and Rhyno are the first ever SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

Overall, this was a really entertaining match. It was not a long match, but it had plenty of great moments and action. Definitely one of the highlights of the night. Slater and Rhino may have seemed like an odd team at first but they somehow made the pairing work and now they are SmackDown’s tag team champs.
