WWE Backlash 2016 Results: Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler Video Highlights
Who came out victorious when The Miz defended his Intercontinental title against Dolph Ziggler at WWE Backlash?
As of Backlash, The Miz is on day 160 of his “Never Ending Intercontinental Championship World Tour”. That’s an impressive stretch of days no matter what, and The Miz, along with his lovely lady Maryse have let everybody know how “AWESOME” he is. Dolph Ziggler doesn’t care, though. He’s not impressed, he thinks Miz is a coward, and coming off his loss to Dean Ambrose for the WWE Championship Ziggler’s looking to regain a title he’s already held 4 times.
This is obviously a step back for Ziggler, but a loss here could be the motivator for him going full-fledged heel. Or it could be the start of yet another dull midcard title run for him. The Miz will be looking to shut up that hater, Daniel Bryan, who thinks he’s “SAWFT”. So who came out on top?
Ziggler is ready to show off for the Backlash crowd! But will he steal the show and yet come away empty?
He was followed by WWE’s other power couple!
The match began with Ziggler putting his mat wrestling background to good use against the IC champ, but it was this superkick that put him down hard! Not the face!
Miz showed that he’s not the only one who can mat grapple, stretching Ziggler’s back in this ugly submission.
It looked like Ziggler tweaked his shoulder during a tumble outside of the ring, and Miz was quick to target it. With Ziggler hurt, Miz went from one submission hold to another, including this modified surfboard.
Think The Miz has forgotten what Daniel Bryan said about him? Think again. Not only has he been stealing his moves, here he is mocking Bryan from his “No! No! No!” days.
This one has been all Miz, even hitting Ziggler with this nasty slingshot powerbomb!
With both men fatigued and injured, Ziggler went for the big finish with his old finisher, the sleeper hold.
But Miz survived it, and locked in his patented figure-four leglock on Ziggler’s injured knee.
Miz ate a devastating superkick, only to get his foot on the bottom rope at the last possible second, leaving Maryse looking like this…
With Ziggler mounting a comeback, Maryse did her best Rick Martel impression by spraying something in the challenger’s face. That opened the door for Miz to hit the Skull Crushing Finale and score the win!
Miz’s never ending IC championship world tour marches on, by any means necessary!

Trav’s Thoughts: Strong match by both Miz and Ziggler. I was surprised by how dominant Miz was throughout, even though most Ziggler matches tend to go that route so he can look like an underdog. Miz comes out of this with serious bragging rights going into Smackdown Live and a likely confrontation with Daniel Bryan. Ziggler takes another step towards complete frustration and a possible heel turn.
