6. Undertaker (Literally) Sends Edge to Hell
SummerSlam 2008 featured some interesting matches that included the Undertaker and Edge facing each other once again. It was the fifth time they faced each other during a pay-per-view that year. But this wasn’t for the World Heavyweight Championship and Undertaker was looking for revenge after Edge had him banished from WWE earlier that year.
The two were building up quite the rivalry and it felt like they were always finding ways to one-up their previous bout. This one was one of their best matches where they used the type of weapons they were known for. Considering Edge’s history, it felt fitting to have ladders involved near the finish of their Hell in a Cell match.
Both men stood atop a ladder before Undertaker got ahold of a fatigued Edge. Lipreaders knew that Undertaker told him that he was “going to hell.” His eyes were that of someone who had snapped, which was understandable considering their year-long rivalry. Undertaker then delivered a chokeslam that sent Edge through the ring.
Flames then came from the hole that Edge fell through, which showed that Undertaker truly sent the Rated-R Superstar straight to Hell. It was the best way to end a rivalry between two men who were key players for SmackDown during that time.
