Billy Corgan No Longer with TNA Wrestling After Losing Lawsuit

Billy Corgan’s TNA future got confirmed and he went to battle with Anthem on Twitter.

Billy Corgan had been tied up in a lawsuit with TNA, which he lost, and other parties for the past few weeks. This stemmed from payments not being made after Corgan took on a role with the company. It muddied the future of everyone involved, and didn’t seem like this would end on a positive note.

Well, it indeed did not close out well. On Thursday, Anthem Sports and Entertainment announced a credit relationship with Impact Venues. They sent out a press release, which can be seen here, courtesy of Wrestling Inc. Anthem is going to manage and fund TNA’s operations, while Dixie Carter will remain as Chairman of the Company. The most noteworthy part, though, may have been the sentence, “Billy Corgan is no longer with the company.” This ends his 18 months with TNA.

Afterward, Corgan took to Twitter to comment on the situation. He noted how TNA was two days late on paying him when they were only supposed to need one.

The Fight Network, which is owned by Anthem, answered Corgan’s tweets.

Corgan fired back, saying they lied and mocked their network.

Corgan’s relationship with TNA and Anthem seems shattered with no point of return. The alleged late payments, relationship with these parties, and the lawsuit may have done permanent damage. As The Smashing Pumpkins lead singer noted, there could even be another lawsuit on the way.

Whether TNA ends up getting sold remains to be seen. That situation has seemingly quieted down with the lawsuit and Anthem taking over the funding. Given how things have fluctuated with TNA’s status, though, we’ll see if a new suitor emerges.

Once these court dealings end, Billy Corgan could decide if he wants to stay in the wrestling business. After all that’s happened over the past month, however, it wouldn’t be difficult to blame him if he stuck to music.
